AudioMulch is an interactive musician’s environment for PC and Mac. It is used for live electronic music performance, composition and sound design. AudioMulch allows you to make music by patching together a range of sound producing and processing modules. Unlike some patcher-based programming environments, AudioMulch’s modules perform high-level musical functions, so you don’t have to create things from the ground up using individual oscillators and filters. AudioMulch is designed for live performance and improvisation – you can process live audio sources and control every knob and slider on the user interface using a MIDI controller.
Introducing Radiator, a dual drive tube input channel and EQ, based on the classic Altec 1567A tube mixer from the 1960s. The original Altec 1567A hardware was a rack-mounted five-input tube mixer with removable transformers, a simple two-knob EQ, an unmistakable green faceplate, and a whopping 97 dB of gain. The sound, by todays standards, is colored and gritty, with a heaping helping of good old fashion hardware noise. In its day, it was used on many early Motown hits, and found its way into the PA racks of countless churches and school auditoriums across the USA. Radiator brings the classic Altec tube sound to desktop recording rigs, capturing the distinctive warmth and punch of the original hardware. Featuring the modeled bass and treble tone controls from the original unit, a mix control for easy parallel processing, and the saturation and harmonic effects of the original hardwares input and output amplifiers. All of these different circuit elements interact, allowing a wide range of tones to be created with just a few simple knobs. Plus we let you decide if the original noise is on or off.
The evil analog level destroyers are here. Devil-Loc and Devil-Loc Deluxe are a twist inspired by the classic Shure Level-Loc mic limiter. These plug-ins add huge sucking compression, grit, dirt, distortion, and take drums (but try it anywhere) to a wonderful hellish nightmare. It’s not for the faint of heart.
At the heart of the DSM lies an easy-to-use single-button “Capture” system. This unique feature uses groundbreaking adaptive techniques to capture both the frequency-domain and dynamic characteristics of audio program, and uses this as the basis for a highly developed large scale multi-band compression process. The DSM also includes a single-button Limiter function which has been optimised specifically to work with the compression stage.
Sidechain Compressor is a flexible VST/AU compressor plug-in. It can be used as a regular channel strip compressor for clean crisp compression & limiting across a wide range of mixing jobs (e.g. adding punch to drum tracks or presence to vocals). For additional flexibility, the sidechain controls (Lo Cut/Hi Cut/Shape) let you customise the compression response. However, Sidechain Compressor’s real party trick is its Universal Sidechain section. This lets you easily do vocal ducking (standard vocal processing in radio production, to fade out music when a narrator is speaking) or add synchronised ducking effects to dance mixes (making your whole mix “pump” or “breathe” by following a kick drum). Universal Sidechains work in most multi-track applications, even those that do not directly support side-chaining. It only takes a few mouse clicks and you’re up and running!
Sidechain Gate lets you perform clever mixing techniques, by using a source track to gate a destination track. For example, you can use a complex hi-hat pattern in one track to rhythmically gate a synth pad in another track. Or simplify a busy bass guitar by gating it from a kick drum track (so the bass guitar is only heard when the kick drum sounds). Sidechain Gate also performs brilliantly as a conventional insert effect. The EQ and Shape controls allow you to intelligently gate problem recordings. Say you want to clean up a noisy recording of a snare drum, which has some bleed-through from a crash cymbal. Simply use the Hi Cut control to filter out the higher frequencies, and then the gate will only open when the snare is hit.
