    Tonehammer is proud to present the mighty Kalimba. The Kalimba (Thumb Piano) is a tuned percussion instrument and a variant of the African Mbira. Its essentially a hollow wooden box with metal keys attached to it. The instrument is plucked with thumbs and the wooden box helps increase the resonance of the metal keys. However Tonehammer took it to the next level. We recorded the Kalimba in four different locations for ultimate user freedom. The user can choose between dry (close-micd in a small, dead room), wet (small hall), wetter (big hall / close mics) and wettest (big hall – far mics).

With 20 construction kits, packed full of the most versatile loop and sample content around, there is no end to the inspiration this product brings. Included are instruments from around the world, from more traditional sounds like bongos and snares to more ethnic percussion like Chinese cymbals and tan tans. This pack is part of KLI series, which includes a custom Kontakt interface. The Kontakt format features patches of each loop. Customize each loop with the “sliced loops” patches. The Sliced Loop patches lay out each individual slice of a loop across the keyboard, making it easy to create new and original custom parts. The “Kit Combos” allow you to arrange full construction kits quickly and easily with a custom mixer and a host of included fx. Create, arrange, tweak, and mix all within the Kontakt format.

    Lyrical Distortion, a Custom 22 PRS electric guitar, recorded through a Mesa Boogie« amplifier and programmed to be easily played from any MIDI controller or sequencer. Lyrical Distortion represents a powerful and unique sounding instrument, sampled with incredible depth and playability. We sampled four variations of every note for every articulation, utilizing random cycling for authentic swift repetitive lines. In addition, every patch features multiple release triggers (again utilizing random cycling) for an air of realism. The patches include single note picking, single note hammer-ons, performed power-chords (I and V) and more. Also, all patches are available as performed palm-mutes as well as non-muted. The range of possibilities is like that of no other sampled guitar library currently available. One key feature is that we have recorded two identical, but yet independent sets of samples (Guitar 1 and Guitar 2). The user can track right and left guitars, double track a guitar lead and so on. The possibilities are great!

Perhaps the most exciting feature of Retro Flute is the ability to generate the popular sung style, best described as the flute being sung through as it is sounding. This mix of instrument and vocalist has never been sampled before.

    We decided to sample the beautiful and exceptional crafted Adams Timpanis, with CalfSkin heads. The main reason was to record these timpanis with a perspective to fill the final gaps between samples and reality. Why Calfskin ? We found in Animal skin everything we were looking for, a warmer, thicker sound ,rich harmonics and timbre quality . We also wanted to reach the limits in terms of power and aggressivity. That’s why for this first volume we recorded with Baroque Mallets. One of the major quality of this instrument is it’s capacity of perfect blending into any mixes. We keep the presence and the punch without smashing the rest of the orchestra. Sometimes when it comes to mix, virtual Timpanis may sound too big and massive (moody mix) but with our instrument you don’t need any audio process, it’s plug and play.
