Stardust 201 Tape Echo is a hot-rodded interpretation of the classic “Space Echo” tape echo effects of the 70s and 80s. Compared to earlier tape echoes, they represented a giant leap in reliability and sound quality. With solidly built tape-transport mechanisms and the inclusion of a spring reverb and chorus effects in some models, the Space Echo was truly groundbreaking with its fantastic variety of sound colors. Stardust precisely recreates the limited fidelity and stability of audio tape, providing a natural rolloff of bass and treble frequencies for super-warm tonality and minor speed variances, lending an organic chorusing quality to repeats. Cranking the intensity knob overloads the circuit, generating the signature other-worldly runaway echoes and feedback that only a tape echo can produce. Stardust 201 Tape Echo includes features from the original RE-201 and RE-301 Space Echo units, and we’ve added some of our own to create a great-sounding, super-flexible, ideal tape echo effect that never breaks down and never needs demagnetizing, all for less than the price of a Space Echo replacement audio tape loop!

The Echorec is a software emulation of the iconic echo/delay unit of the same name produced by the Italian brand Binson in the 1960s. The sound of this magnetic disk delay differs from the tape delays used at the time, and has largely contributed to the audio signature of many 70s bands: Pink Floyd, The Shadows, Jimmy Page etc. Vintage Echorec devices are known for their saturation, self-oscillation, and oversound, all shaping the music produced in the 70s. They are also, however, known to be fragile and difficult to maintain.

VertiVerb VRS23 is a faithful simulation of the Dynacord® VRS 23 (Vertical Reverberation System) , an early 80s BBD echo and reverb. This unit uses 10 BBD chips in a complex cascaded matrix to generate both echo and reverberation. As stated by the manufacturer, back in the 80s, the VRS23 incorporated a “newly developed” reverberation structure which avoids the “cellar” effect found in early reverberation units. This translates in a peculiar mixture of delay and reverberation that made the VRS23 a truly unique device. We went further and added new features like FBK and CLK (Clock) trimmers, allowing you to fine tune the feedback amount and the BBD clock speed.

Space Age 555 is a faithful tape echo simulation of the Roland® Chorus Echo™ RE-501 / SRE-555, the bigger brother of the iconic Space Echo™ RE-201, released in the late ‘70s. The Space Age 555 features multiple delay modes, a spring reverb, and a BBD chorus, making it perfect for creating warm and organic lush echo effects. We preserved the original “fake” stereo mode, where the outputs of the different unit’s section where split between the left and right channels. Furthermore, we added some extra parameters to fine tune the unit.
