The meticulously sampled and reproduced damper control ensures that you will have the smooth and natural dampening effect you would have with the hardware, and lush stereo reverb for days. As with many of my reverbs, this one is more complex by design compared to typical Nebula reverb programs (having a sampled control inside a reverb instantly makes everything more complex), so you’re going to want a fairly recent CPU and decent amount of RAM to get the best out of these programs. There is also a bonus reverb which used a sampling process I came up with that I usually refer to as ‘bionic’. The sampling tones are ran through the hardware at faster and slower speeds than normal, giving higher and lower pitched frequency responses than normal, and also faster and slower reverb reactions. 3 different speeds were used to create these 3 alternate ‘what if’ reverbs and they are all contained inside one program, allowing you to select whichever one you want without having to load another program to hear the next one. Try these out if you ever want something a little different from the main program!

CupTone Vol.3 Tone+Distortion

This is volume 3 of my CupTone series, and everything in it is new. There are a lot of really interesting tone programs here, with many of them coming from some very unique, vintage preamps. Other programs are from mixing consoles, outboard equalizers and compressors, and a saturation device. Some have an adjustable EQ band. A major focus with this release was sampling and recreating not just subtle harmonics, but actual distortion. To that end I spent a lot of time rethinking how I make my programs, and came up with a method entirely different from anything I’ve ever done. 10 of the 35 tone programs are capable of producing distortion. The other 25 programs are great for tone sculpting and some subtle harmonic enhancement, just like the programs in my Cuptone 2 release. There are also 12 programs for recreating the non-linear dynamics that occur when some of the sampled gear was driven into saturation. In total there are 47 programs (for each sample rate), sampled from 22 different types of gear.

The Bogen MXM K93 Vintage Tube Mixer

The “Bogen MXM K93 Vintage Tube Mixer/EQ Combo For Nebula” is an important part of our “Classic Console Series”, consisting of 44 programs:, all sampled at 96kHz and tested to retain accuracy at 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates with the latest version of Nebula3 Pro. The “Bogen MXM K93 Vintage Tube Mixer/EQ Combo For Nebula” faithfully reproduces the line channel, microphone channel, and eq section of the late 50’s, early 60’s classic. This collection sounds amazing on everything, and is particularly wonderful if you are trying to get ‘that’ early tube sound. Think anything from the McCartney Beatles Bass, to 60’s room drums.

Cassette Deck 3 For NEBULA

This release is really like a bundle of maybe 3 complete collections of different types of Nebula programs, plus a bonus effect. Most of these effects were made using a Marantz 4020 cassette deck, which has 3 heads and can record/play at double speed, giving increased performance (extended high freq range is one example), however some of the reverbs and one of the comps used the Tascam 122 mk3.

Cassette Deck 2 For NEBULA

The ADS C3 cassette deck can play at the standard 1 7/8 IPS, but also at 3 3/4. The double speed mode increases performance, including: noise floor, wow and flutter, and high frequency reproduction. At single speed the deck already performs very well, but the quality at double speed puts this deck in contention for the highest quality to be had from cassette. It even approaches the reel format, with the noise floor and wow/flutter being the only specs really holding it back (while still being very good for cassette). Lucky for us, those faults don’t exist in the Nebula programs! Many tapes were used, with some of each type (I, II, III, and IV), and of various qualities.

Sooper Time Tube + BBD Delay/Reverb

This collection includes effects sampled from three sources. The ‘Time Tube’ unit passes audio through lengths of hose using speakers and pickups, to produce a delay of a few milliseconds, creating a Haas ‘doubling’ effect where the delay isn’t heard as a distinct echo, but instead blends with the dry signal in a way that thickens the sound. Some people love it for vocals. The delay actually comes from the amount of time it takes the sound to travel through the hose. It offers stereo and mono modes, which are different. I’ve sampled both. The other effects were sampled from two home stereo system units: the Pioneer SA60, and the Sansui SA-710. They were both designed to add ambience to the music you play on your system, using bucket brigade delay chips. The SA60 can do a really nice ‘duet’ effect, which is a short delay good for doubling, similar to the ‘Time Tube’ effect.

Cassette Deck 1 For Nebula

The Tascam 122 mkIII deck was used, along with 14 tapes, to create this set. Some tapes were sampled two or three times, at slightly different speeds and with different noise reduction settings (B, C, and none). Most of the tapes are/were highly regarded among cassette enthusiasts (they’re still out there!). There are type I, II, and metal type IV tapes. The deck has a rich history and is very well known for it’s reliability and performance.
