This is a gritty, atmospheric and analogue collection, aimed at bridging the sonic gap between techno and soundtrack music. Deep, dark and drifting, Diva Oxide is full of twisted, widescreen and minimal, analogue character. Oxide is inspired in part by crossover techno artists such as Kiasmos, Jon Hopkins, Christian Loffler and Rival Consoles; as well as synth-driven composers like Paul Haslinger, Ben Frost, Cristobal Tapia de Veer, and Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow. In this class we will be using Ableton Live’s drum rack to layer different sounds on top of each other to create powerful and personalized drum kits. We will be looking at kick drum, snare and clap layering as well as some grooves to put our work in action. Create your own layered drum kit and post a groove or song you created using your drums. If you are able to resample your drums feel free to post the samples for your classmates to use.
