Designed to mimic the “wa wa” sound from a Wah pedal. WF3607 features 6 modes of filtering effect taken from the familiar crybaby sound to synth-like filters. In the 1920s guitar players were fascinated by the “wa wa wa” sound made by trumpet players by opening and closing their mutes. Its filtering effect alters the resonance of the instrument and it feels to increase the expressiveness of playing. More than 40 years later, an accidental invention resulted in a device that forever changes the sound of guitar. This pedal eventually known as the Cry Baby*. Next, in the 1970s, an aborted synthesizer project resulted in an similar “wah wah” effect, which later known as Mu-Tron* III envelope filter. These two devices revolutionized almost every genre of music as we know it today.

There was a time when the echo effect was made using magnetic tapes, and among the many units that the industry brought to the market, one model shone above all: the Space Echo RE-201. This was by far one of the most used and still today is one of the most sought after tape echo units ever made. The new GS-201 Mark II is the evolution of a project we started back in 2008 with the release of the old version of GS-201. The purpose is to capture the magic of the Space Echo and make it available to all, right there, into the computer. Not an easy task, but the experience we gained during the last 10 years in audio DSP development has helped us reach a result that sometimes can fool even ourselves.

GSi Mini Orchestra is a sample-playback synthesizer based on a selection of high quality stereo samples with long loops, that helps reproducing the sound of a symphonic orchestra easily and quickly. It offers 9 sections including: bass brasses (tubas, trombones), cellos and contrabass, french horns, woodwinds (flutes, oboe, fagotto), treble brasses (trumpets and trombones), treble strings (violins, violas), choirs, glockenspiel and percussions (timpani and cymbals). Each section can be programmed independently to have a given response to velocity, expression pedal, aftertouch, and velocity zone. The “aftertouch lag” parameter lets you adjust the response to the aftertouch messages in order to obtain smooth dynamic transitions.

Filtering and sound shaping is essential, when it comes to balance out recordings, fitting signals into the mix or doing creative sound design. But what might be great for the loud part of the signal, is not necessarily good for the quiet part and reverse. Dynamic EQs are around for quite a while and are doing a great job on dynamic selective filtering. On the other hand, dynamic EQs can be a little bit difficult to understand, especially when it comes to below and above the dynamic threshold of the processing and it is also hard to deal with complex filter curves. Therefore, we invented a complete new but very simple approach to dynamic selective processing. This not only allows to add complex filtering curves very fast, but also analog style saturation and stereo widening. We call it Dynamic Split Processing.
