An incredible tool for creating beautiful evolving cinematic guitars

Impromptu Electric Guitars is a cinematic Kontakt 6 instrument featuring 21 patches and over 8GB of samples. IEG is dedicated to the creation of complex guitar-based, ever-evolving soundscapes. Three exceptional guitars (including an electric Baritone) were sampled in great detail at 48kHz/24bit, using condenser and ribbon microphones and processed through a large number of guitar pedals. The centrepiece of IEG is the Impromptu Engine; a system that utilises loops of improvised, un-synced snippets combined with a granular synthesizer. We recorded improvised performances in three different intensity layers that you are able to crossfade between using the central knob which is mapped to the mod-wheel by default. Playing a note with the mod-wheel completely down will trigger a sparse improvised loop on that pitch; start moving the mod- wheel up to gradually crossfade to the medium and finally, to the dense layer. Other than the intensity, the layers were also sampled playing the instrument in different ways: the sparse layer was recorded playing the guitar with fingers, the medium layer was recorded using a soft, smooth, wooden pick while the dense layer was recorded using a thick, hard plastic pick.

Bulgarian Vox Trilogy – O R P H E U S

The ORPHEUS vocal sample library project was started in 2004. Its mission is to outline the legend of the mystery of the Bulgarian voices. To make that happen, the producer Ivan Kovachev invited several generations of the best Bulgarian professional choirs, vocal groups and soloists to present the traditional vocal treasure of the country. The instrument patches included in this collection bring authentic Balkan ambience into any style of music compositions, film scoring and mixing. All vocal samples included in the trilogy are “dry”, bringing only the original acoustic ambience of the recording studio hall. The ORPHEUS sample library was made in Bulgaria including the recording, audio design, instrument programming and UI design. Sincere thanks to all professionals (the choirs, vocal groups, solo singers, vocal experts, conductors and organizers) who took part in that project.

Ink Steel is an ambient pedal steel library for Kontakt that uses key switching to change between single notes and chord sets. Think more Daniel Lanois than Western Swing. And it’s really easy to use. Ink Steel imitates pedal steel behavior by sustaining some notes while bending others. It’s split into two key switched sections and vibrato is added with the mod wheel. Red key switches are for single notes. The white keys pitch bend within the major scale while the black keys do not. Transpose to different keys with the tuning knob in Kontakt. Orange key switches are for pre-voiced chord sets that pitch bend differently. The white keys are for diatonic chords and the black keys are for other common chords.
