The XL-305R has its roots in the all analog XL-305 Spring Reverb from the 1980’s. It’s been a Secret Weapon reverb over the years that has gained cult-like status. Unlike many spring reverbs, this Spring Assembly has 12 springs tuned together making it equally tempered, very similar to opening the lid of a piano, holding the damper open and singing into the strings . Working out from this core idea, we re-imagined the rest of the design from the ground up, from the electronics and spring decay times, to modern workflow and aesthetic improvements. With the direction of Wayne Kirkwood(XL-305 Original Designer) and 4 years of R & D, we were able to bring this GROUNDBREAKING design from the last century into the modern century. Simply put, we are incredibly proud to bring this to market. The perfect balance of simplicity and flexibility round out the options of this verb. Here’s a feature rundown from left to right.
TAL-Mod is a virtual analog synthesizer with an exceptional sound and almost unlimited modulation possiblities. Its special oscillator model is able to create a wide range of sounds, from classic mono to rich stereo leads, effects and pads. Routings can be done with virtual patch cables. Just connect a modulation output with a modulation target. After that it’s possible to adjust the intensity of the modulation. You don’t need to be a modular expert. The plug-in is suitable for beginners and experts!
TAL-DAC is not an ordinary bit crusher or sample rate reducer. The plug-in is based on the TAL-Sampler sound engine. It emulates a sample recorded on a low sample rate with reduced bit depth and upsamples it to the desired host sample rate. It’s possible to choose different algorithms for the upsampling process to emulate the characteristics of different samplers. A low and high shelf EQ together with a AMP Drive in the reconstruction section allow it to approximate the sound character of different sampler AMP’s. Also it is possible to emulate hot recorded signals using the input volume knob. This plug-in can be used on a wide range of audio material, but it’s especially useful and authentic on drum sounds.
