Welcome to the world of Slow Tape Beats. A messy and wonderful mash of sloppy hiphop beats and wobbly melodies all melting in style and vibe. Inspired by the usual culprits such as Flying Lotus, Mount Kimbie, Nosaj Thing, Lapalux and more, it’s a journey into the experimental side of contemporary beats.
Tape Beats, a selection of crate digging inspired gritty drum breaks, one shots and detuned melodic loops. The drums in this pack were recorded on site in Jardin Aereo studios in Mexico State through UAD preamps and heavily processed with tape effects, resampling and creative saturation. Two stereo overhead mics were used for width and ambience, individual close mics used for each drum and a vintage RCA microphone was placed central to add gritty character and vintage tone. Detuned and lush Rhodes chord progressions are included to inspire and accompany the drum sounds.
