Blue Cat Audio MB-7 Mixer Explained TUTORiAL

    SYNTHiC4TE | April 04 2016 | 298 MB

Studio guru explores Blue Cat Audio’s MB-7 Mixer and explains how it splits your source audio into different frequency bands and then process each band like a separate track. It also lets you host VST and AU plugs for even more creative possibilities! Eli starts by explaining what the MB-7 Mixer can do, and walks you around its user interface. Then he demonstrates how the controls on the individual bands work and how to use MB-7 as a plug-in host, so you can use it to effect different parts of the frequency spectrum differently. Additionally, Eli provides examples of various individual sounds being transformed in this way so you can grasp its full potential as a creative effect.

The eBow (energy bow), is a small, hand-held device that “bows” the strings of a guitar using an electromagnetic field. It produces a unique guitar sound, with a very slow attack and infinite sustain. The guitarist holds the eBow over the string, near the pickup or hole, so that the string sits in a small notch on the underside of the eBow. The eBow’s magnets then cause the string to vibrate until it feeds back on itself at its own resonant frequency. This feedback loop is similar to amplifier feedback, but it’s much more controllable. The player can vary the loudness of the sound by moving closer or farther away from the string, as with amplifier feedback. The eBow is switchable from low-power mode to high-power mode, which gives a strong, harmonically rich sound. The eBow has been used at one time or another by many top guitarists and acts: Radiohead, Tom Petty, Dave Gilmour, Sigur Ros, NIN, Coldplay, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, REM, U2 and more.

Bowed Piano for Ableton Live v9.x ALP

    SYNTHiC4TE | April 03 2016 | 1.02 GB

What happens when you take a perfectly good instrument–one that’s been around for hundreds of years–and completely rethink it? The bowed piano technique involves flexible bows made from monofilament nylon fishing line, coated in rosin. What happens when you take a perfectly good instrument–one that’s been around for hundreds of years–and completely rethink it? The bowed piano technique involves flexible bows made from monofilament nylon fishing line, coated in rosin. The nylon is threaded under the piano’s strings, and the performer can coax a sustained tone from the piano. The resulting sound is organic, shape-shifting, massive, foreboding yet delicate. The sound of the Bowed Piano is incredibly versatile, very musical and completely unique. It seems to strike a middle ground somewhere between a synthesizer pad and a stringed instrument and manages to sound like neither. It is a sound that adds space and movement to a composition and brings a magical, shimmering high end and baleful, evocative character.
