The Master Solo Strings Begins With The Most Detailed, Carefully Sampled And Realistic Solo Viola Virtual Instrument When approaching the master solo strings, our initial thoughts were to begin with the solo violin, as out of the four main bowed string instruments, it is by far the most prominently used soloist instrument. With further consideration, we decided it might be perfect to focus and actually begin with a meticulously sampled solo Viola. There are already many sampled violins, and we have contributed some ourselves, so lets open with the viola! Considering adding a violin solo to your score? The violin has a beautiful sound – no doubt about it – but consider giving an extra special colour to your music by adding a viola solo; a warmer/lusher and deeper sound, which listeners will be less accustomed to, and pleasantly surprised by. The instrument is carefully sampled, with multiple legato modes at different dynamic layers, cross-fadeable with MIDI CC1 (mod wheel).

Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns Danse Macabre we are proud to present you our first Solo Strings library focusing on expressive performances. Macabre consists of a sampled String Trio Violin, Viola and Cello recorded separately in their first chair positions in the Sofia Session Studio, where artists like Two Steps from Hell recorded their albums. Macabre Solo Strings aren’t the usual sampled Solo Strings. They were crafted with one particular sound in our minds, which they deliver better than any other Solo String library out there. Macabre excels at slow emotional Solo String lines and on top of that you don’t even need tons of programming to get stunning results with them. Just sit down and play. The samples themselves contain a huge amount of natural expressiveness, which makes it easier than ever to write realistic sounding Solo String lines.
The solo viola boasts the same set of fantastic features as its cousins from the LSS Solo Strings bundle, including THREE true legato types, 8RR x 3 Dynamic Layer Staccato playing, TWO true release modes (hard and soft), plus trills, al with four fantastically blendable mic positions, which, between them, can offer a huge variety in sonic pallete. The three legato modes – slurred, bowed and portamento, are easily switchable during use via keyswitches, and one exceptionally useful feature, which we are shocked to say we rarely see in string libraries, is the ability to change bow on the same note. Simply hold the note you want to change bow on, and press the low G keyswitch.
