Opalize [ˈoʊpəˌlaɪz] | To make something shimmer with shifting colours. When applying saturation or distortion to an audio signal, we often do so to add harmonics – to make basslines more audible on small speakers, add punch to drums, or help synths and instruments cut through the mix. In short: We want to sculpt the harmonic content of our sounds precisely – without introducing obvious, unpleasant distortion.

‘Shifting Shapes’ is a deep insight into his productions and offers a wide range of signature sounds and loops to use. As you’d expect from being a Deep Heads release, the sample pack delivers some floaty frequencies, especially in the Melody loops and Pads, but unsurprisingly being a pack from Biome, there are some very gritty basslines and drum loops that showcase the sound that use is so well known for. Presented mainly at 140 BPM, it displays a wide range of influences and sounds that represent Biome and his sound. It’s an expansive sample pack that delivers a diverse pallet of producer tools.
