The Didjeridu, also known as the “drone pipe,” represents 1500 years of sounds and grooves originating from the heart of aboriginal Australia. Traditionally, the Didjeridu was played primarily as an accompaniment to ceremonial dancing and singing; today the Didjeridu is widely used in EDM and the electronica scene, not to mention healing. It is believed the Didgeridu was born in the Northern Territory of Australia, In particular, Aboriginals of the Northeast Arnhem land maintained a long unbroken traditional art of making Didgeridoos – an instrument that the Yolngu musicians of Northeast Arnhem Land call Yidaki.
In this class I want to show you how meter and rhythm in music emerge from our cognitive processing of sounds. Because this holds for all humans, this explanation of meter and rhythm is as universal as you can get. It is also based on psychological experiments that have been carried out over the last decades. Knowing the cognitive processing of sounds is of great usefulness when you are making music because it let’s more consciously predict how your music will be heard by the listener, what effect it will have in the temporal realm.

This pack transports you back to the heralded sounds of 1950 Rock ‘n’ Roll and into the 1960s – with 100% royalty-free content to inspire your tracks and enrich your sound. Rock ‘n’ Roll is a genre which developed in the 1950s off the back of Rhythm & Blues, the advent of electronically amplified instruments and the production of the 45 RPM vinyl record. Rock ‘n’ Roll created new sounds and a huge number of scenes throughout its development – influencing cultural movements and dance styles too. The Vermona Random Rhythm module is a little bit like Frankenstein’s monster: robustly built with a passionate soul—but also, good-looking. Created in collaboration with German-based Vermona, whose musical heritage producing amplifiers and organs dates back decades, Random Rhythm is an exacting model of the original random-based, dual-channel trigger sequencer hardware. Concocted specifically for Modular, Random Rhythm lets imagination off-leash while maintaining full control over what’s being sequenced. It says random in the name, but there’s a method to the madness.
