Many of us love the old portastudio cassette recorder sound because many of us started this gig on cheap tape. The pres are simple and yet have a smooth rolling off that makes for a nice smooth rendition. This pre surprised me at how useful it is. Giving a lovely glow it can be used to give more body and definition. Very nice , classy sound for a cheap preamp.
These Maccy Onnyyx preamps have been described as being as good as some standalone boutique mic amps. I wouldn’t go as far as that as I have found them to be solid but not in the same league as GML or API. But they do sound really nice, tight, clear and make things sound more real. Native 192 khz sampling and also 96 khz available. Designed to work best at 96 khz. This means you need to be patient as the libraries load and resample internally. Don’t worry, the quality will speak for itself. You will be amazed at the improved transient response.
Sampled with ‘Prismsound Orpheus’ precision you will not be disappointed. Provided in 192 khz, 96 khz, 44.1 khz. 9 presets are available. Library size is 220 MB. 10 distortion kernels. Please note that these require a fully licensed Nebula Pro license to enjoy. The Focus octo pre comes from an eight channel preamp 1U rack that also has dynamics built in. It is clean in flavour with a hint of sparkle.
The NVE PRE 73 has been updated! Inspired by the successful G610 Library, new driven programs have been added, which offer different degrees of saturation while the old programs have been sampled in a different way usign moderate settings. Those new programs will give you full, warm, and thick NVE sound! The new programs are available as 192kHz, 96kHz ,88.2kHz, 48kHz and 44.1 versions, so nebula won’t have to convert them.
