Introducing Polaris, the 13th installment in the Omega Music Library collection. This sample pack captures the rich sonic textures of late 70s and early 80s Japanese fusion and rare wamono records, blending live piano recordings from a 1984 Yamaha upright and the highly sought-after Solina String Ensemble with OML’s already impressive arsenal of era-accurate synths and outboard gear. Each sample was manually processed through a 1979 AKAI GX-635D reel-to-reel tape machine on 10-inch Maxell XLI 35-180B Master Tape, used widely across Japanese recording studios in the late 70s, delivering a warm, lush, and mysterious sound reminiscent of iconic composers like Yuji Ohno, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Kentaro Haneda. Fully analog, with no digital instruments—Polaris is essential for timeless, emotive production.

Omega Music Library’s 12th installment, Gravitas, features 10 original samples composed by Marcus Marino and Gerson Zaragoza. Influenced by late 70s, early 80s Japanese jazz-funk, fusion, city-pop, and acid-folk records from Yoshiko Sai, Yuji Ohno, and Minako Yoshida, Gravitas is a melodic set of soulful & psychedelic compositions. All tracks were mastered through an AKAI GX-635D reel-to-reel tape machine (recorded to Maxell XLI 35-180B tape) which was used in mastering studios across Japan during this era for added sonic accuracy, analogue warmth, and vintage character.

If I’ve got tracks that need more vibe, more color, and less of the fast, sharp transients digital is famous for, Omega Transformer plugins are my weapon of choice. Transformer plugins are extremely cool on their own, giving my VI’s, loops, and found sounds the character of carefully chosen, boutique analog circuits. When a Transformer is used on tracks recorded with the Omega Preamp, the effect is quite stunning: a dead-on replication of the original hardware’s sonic signature. This is not “sounds kinda like…” this is “sounds exactly like”. Transformer plugins are very simple to use — just turn the Intensity knob and a lovely, distinct flavor unfolds. The resulting Transformed tracks mix easier, sound sweeter, give EQ’s more mojo to extract, and feed compressors a rounder, punchier transient to play with. The result is, to my ears, a truly magical Transformation.
