The stars of the show are his one-of-a-kind inventions like the Bellowphone, Bottle Organ, and Oomphalapompatronium, though the collection is filled out by more familiar instruments as well. The Levine’s Machines – Drum Machine, being one of just roughly 500 units, is a rarity that not only has the provenance of being a central part of Steve’s career, but the same model appeared on so many hits from the 1980’s, including recordings by Michael Jackson, Prince, Human League, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, and many, many more.

Tiny Machines Getting Crushed is a new loop library.  Classic and obscure analog beat boxes are sampled, reprogrammed and then squeezed, smashed and decimated through modular synth modules, old guitar pedals and digital distortions to create one very nasty beat collection.  137 original loops with breakdown versions where applicable. 277 24-bit/44.1k samples (90, 100, 110, 120, 128, 135, 140 and 160 BPM), EXS24 and Kontakt starter instruments.

Our goal was to create something as close to the analogue sound as possible, and keep it simple, functional, and straight to the point. We wanted all sounds to be solid and ready to use. Put simply, we wanted it to sound HUGE! And we think we’ve done it! We’re extremely proud of this hybrid synth and have found it an incredible experience to build, and to use. We teamed up with renowned producer Yoad Nevo, and spent months sampling away at his various analogue synthesisers. We owe a big thanks to Yoad for his expert synth advise and programming, and to everyone else involved in the production of this, especially Phil from Samplephonics, whose attention to detail and scripting expertise has enabled this idea to become a reality.
