Signal Return is a performable kontakt instrument and soundset designed to create a wide variety of interesting and textured sounds. All of the source material comes from recordings of various devices feeding back into themselves either electrically or acoustically. No software based speaker emulators or distortions were used in the creation of these sounds. Signal Return interfaceWe covered all of the classic forms of feedback including an SM58 through a PA, an electric guitar through a tube amped miked with an SM57 and a Royer 121, a set of Sony headphones feeding into themselves, and a pair of Uniden walkie talkies with both mics open too close to one another.We also did a series of line level loops with devices like a sansamp bass driver DI, a Danelectro Honeytone amp, and a Roland Cube amp. The line level loops were also run through guitar pedals and pitch/delay plugins to further bend and distort the looped signals.

Sho, the fourth release in the Virtuoso Japanese Series, is now available as a software instrument in Kontakt format. The sho is free reed musical instrument and one of the three primary woodwind instruments used in gagaku court orchestra music. Consisting of 17 slender bamboo pipes, it is sometimes said to resemble a resting phoenix because of its shape. In antiquity, the sho’s fluid tonal character was associated with light shining down from the heavens.

With 30 alternate samples per key, this is one of our very detailed scripted basses. And the best part is of course the sound of this “Leo’s” legend. The Jazz Bass differs from the Precision Bass mainly in the electrical equipment, a narrower neck and the more asymmetrical shape of the body. In our recording session We used our vintage RFT 4053 Tube Mic-Pre/DI from the good old 60s. This VINTAGE BASS is an all-purpose weapon, so it is also very suitable for modern music styles. So we recorded this “gem of a bass” and cleverly scripted it into a perfect bass library. The real strength of this bass guitar lies in its playability.
