All atmospheres and pads are assigned to Mod Wheel and become pulsing sounds, fully editable, synced to your BPM, for the most flexible use as underscore textures. The real core of “Granular Moon” is the Multis folder, here you will find the whole potential of these evolving sounds.

Granular Synthesizer Plugin

The Mangle grew from years of experiments with granular synthesis. The goal was to ‘play’ with the stream of grains in a musical and expressive way. This led to some unique features: a large XY area with real-time grain display. Pitch and tempo locking. True stereo grains and multi-timbral layering. Stretch out rich harmonics from acoustic sounds. Turn field recordings into ambient soundscapes. Or bring in synth sounds to be shredded, exploded and recombined with intricate patterns and cloud effects.

From atmospheric pads to the most unique and exciting sounds you can imagine, granular synthesis opens a whole new world of sonic possibilities. In this course, by synth expert, you learn everything you need to master Reason 10’s Grain Sample Manipulator synth. Listen closely, because this synth is truly amazing… and a lot of fun! Rishabh starts with an overview of the user interface, where you discover how the instrument is laid out. Next, you learn how to load samples, how to set up the root key, and how the different playback modes work. In the next section, Rishabh explains the differences between the four playback algorithms: Tape, Long Grains, Grain Oscillator, and Spectral Grains. Continuing with the course, you also get a solid understanding of the oscillator, filter, amp, modulation, and effect sections. The course concludes by putting everything you learned together in an otherworldly sound design workshop!

Microcosm WAV

Microcosm is a collection of long (10-60 sec) evolving textures created using a combination of additive and granular synthesis. By using both additive and granulation synthesis we were able to really focus on creating evolving elements in the frequency and time domain — this allowed us to explore changing harmonic structure and discrete granular properties simultaneously — the result of this exploration is textures that have the harmonic sweeps from additive and the distinct particulated sound from granulation synthesis. This collection was primarily created on Symbolic Sound’s Kyma System.
