Funk Fusion EBX

This EZbass library was created with the aim of creating the perfect instrument to bridge the gap between two genres where the bass has been the rhythmic backbone since its inception: funk and fusion. The bass guitar in question is a flawlessly crafted modern instrument designed to deliver the highest standard of sound, dynamics and tonal depth. Since this bass guitar had to cope equally well with the intricacies of jazz and rock sounds, it was chosen from a number of instruments as it fit the bill perfectly. The sample was recorded using traditional fingerpicking and the quintessential slap technique, as well as an entirely new articulation for EZbass called lefthand mute. The latter will allow you to achieve a coherent and distinct performance, very reminiscent of an electric guitar mute and crucial to the sound of these genres.

REDEFiNE YOUR BASSLINES.

75 unique synth bass tones for anything from pop and electronic to ambient soundscapes. Rooted in some of the most influential vintage and modern synths, but remixed, heavily saturated and textured – this expansion for EZbass presents a collection of bass tones unlike anything you’ve ever heard. If you’re looking for an EBX where mint organic vintage vibes come head to head with cutting edge sound design, this is your new go-to. For this EBX, six carefully selected hardware synth instruments were sampled as a foundation. From there, the design team added sonic layers of field recording noise, modular synthesis, granular module tones, foley and various other ambiences to create richly textured and multilayered bass tones. After that, all sounds were individually processed, saturated and patched through vintage hardware compressors, EQs and tube outboard for further organic warmth, grit and boost. The result? A patchwork of 75 hybrid synth bass sounds that covers the entire range from tight, plucky, clean and pristine to the thunderously drone-like ambient, dirty, distorted and aggressive.

Shimmering in blinding neon pastels, the ’80s was an era when technology forced its way to the forefront and got its first permanent foothold in mainstream music culture. It was a time when acoustic and electronic merged to form all-together new sounds, musical expressions and even genres. In all of this, the bass of course played a tremendous part – not least in the shape of the surging use of the synth filling its traditional role. For this MIDI pack, we turned to its sibling for EZkeys and used it as a foundation to create the perfect complement for EZbass. Expect a wealth of ballad-esque basslines that perfectly capture the spirit of the time but that you can doctor for use in any thinkable style or scenario.
