  • Layering And Filling Sounds Explained TUTORiAL-HiDERA-MaGeSY

    Layering & Filling Sounds

    HiDERA | 26 January 2025 | 229 MB

Are you tired of feeling that your tracks sound a bit dull and lifeless? Don’t you wish there was a way you could make them sound … well … bigger and better? You’ve come to the right place! In this video course, production expert Thomas Cochran will show you numerous ways to convert a stale, anemic-sounding instrument to something that commands attention and turns an ear. With the sound-layering techniques you learn in this tutorial, you’ll never have to settle for a lackluster track again! These videos are designed for producers and recordists that want to increase the impact and vibe of their instrument tracks. After welcoming you to the production course, Thomas begins showing you ways to add texture and movement to sounds, lending complexity to your production without adding clutter. This is done through bit reduction, adding saturation to reverb, and layering a granular synth patch on top of a simple sine keys part. Thomas then shows how you can add depth to a track with modulation and delay effects, which is useful for filling up space without adding another instrument. Next, you’ll discover how duplicating instrument parts (melodies, chords, etc.) with another sound (or more) can greatly increase the depth and texture of an existing part. The great thing about this technique is that virtually any sound is fair play, as they will all complement the original track in a unique way.

Looking for ways to overcome writer’s block and create compelling melodies even when inspiration isn’t striking? Say no more. In this music production video course, Stephen O’Connell provides practical methods to break the melody-writing process into manageable steps, use your DAW tools creatively, and explore new combinations of ideas. You’ll learn how to develop melodies from scratch, fill in gaps with counter-melodies and harmonies, and choose the right instruments to bring your ideas to life. These music production videos are designed for producers, songwriters, and composers looking for new forms of inspiration in their writing process. The course begins by addressing the blank canvas problem: how to get started when you feel stuck. Stephen demonstrates two approaches — separating rhythm and pitch (to simplify the task) and employing controlled randomness to spark unexpected ideas. He also highlights how instrument range and tone can shape your melodic possibilities.

    Creative Mixing with Clipping Explained®

    HiDERA | 05 October 2024 | 216 MB

Join mixing wizard Thomas Cochran for a fun, exciting tutorial series on using clipping in various creative ways. You’ll be amazed at how this technique can elevate your mixes in numerous ways, especially if you’ve always avoided clipping (as instructed when you started recording) and never experimented with the idea. This course covers everything from adding grit and saturation to an instrument to preventing the need for over-limiting on your master bus, among other useful tips. By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to begin using these techniques right away on your very next production. These mixing videos are for those who are new to the topic of intentional audio clipping. After welcoming you to the course, Thomas begins by showing how clipping can be used on electronic drums to add saturation and increase energy. This can really help bring a stale drum beat to life.
