The Celtic Harp – also known as folk harp – is an ancient instrument that dates back over 4000 years. While the Celtic Harp brings to mind the Celtic green isles that has influenced Celtic culture and music through the centuries, the harp developed in many variations in Africa, Europe, North and South America and Asia. Traditionally a popular instrument with medieval bards and troubadours, classical music composers through the ages have been inspired to create music that does true justice to the harp’s spectacular range of sound and tones. Enchanting and magical, this beautiful multi-stringed instrument can sound sweet or powerful depending on the strings used. Today, most harpers prefer nylon strings instead of wire. Without any digital inputs, the Celtic Harp Bundle is a boutique collection of acoustic samples performed by master harper Tomer Bahar. Agatha was also the first to listen to the final instrument on Kontakt, and showed remarkable appreciation for the authenticity of the sound.

The MEGHAN Celtic Harp is the biggest and most resonant Celtic Harp in the “family” with 36 strings and a 5 octave range. It’s traditionally tuned at the white keys for 5 octaves but we re tuned the Harp so C1-B2 is almost completely sampled in halftones. The highest octaves C3-C5 are sampled in tone steps and stretched to C6. The complete range of our library is 6 octaves and in 4 effective velocity layers and sampled in discrete stereo.

The Celtic Nylon Harp is a small-sized harp with a height of nearly 39 inch (98 cm) and is usually designed for traditional music. The wooden instrument ranges in three octaves between C2 and C5 and has got 22 strings which are made of nylon and are plucked with the fingers. The harp has a lever close to the top of each string; when it is engaged, it shortens the string so its pitch is raised a semitone (sharped note if the string was a natural). The warm sound of the nylon strings is inspiring and adorable.

“Celtic Harp”is our first traditional, folk sounding instrument, outside the realms of standard classical music. This was sampled in a completely different room to the our other instruments released so far. We chose a location that would compliment and retain the instrument’s warth of tone. It comes complete with three true dynamic levels, and a brilliant maximum nine true variations pernote! Keep checking back for more up and coming string sample libraries, it will only get better from here on. We primarily design plug-ins and instruments for Kontakt 5 and above. The full version of Kontakt 5 or above is required to run this software. It will not run on the free version of Kontakt player. This VST instrument was created with a harp recorded in a very warm and soft sounding room, for a much more intimite and pleasing sound. It has also been recorded in such a way that it can easily be applied to all sorts of mixes and styles of music and fit wonderfully with other instruments, reverb etc.
