BFD Sleishman Snares is an expansion for BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 with 4 premium Sleishman free-floating snare drums. Sleishman’s system of suspending the drum shell without any physical contact with lugs and other hardware with a patented tuning system keeping both heads precisely in tune results in unique sound, sustain and purity of tone. BFD Sleishman Snares includes a 14″ maple shell snare (played with rods and sticks), a 10″ maple piccolo (sticks only), a 13″ rosegum snare (brushes and sticks) and a 14″ blue acrylic (sticks only). Some snares feature additional articulations when used with BFD3 and BFD2.

The included sounds are perfect for film and commercial composition as well as for progressive music production and creative sound design. BFD Orchestral features a variety of orchestral bass drums, snares and hand cymbals alongside chromatically tuned timpani and concert chimes which are sampled over 1.5 octaves and perfect for unusual melodic lines. Other highlights include suspended cymbals with huge decays due to the lack of a stand to dampen vibrations. All the sounds in BFD Orchestral are recorded using carefully selected high-end equipment to capture the dynamics and sonic beauty of these instruments which have the versatility to fit into all kinds of genres and mixes.

BFD 8 Bit Kit is an expansion pack for FXpansion’s BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 with dozens of esoteric, vintage and modified drums, percussion and beatboxes – all prepared and tuned in unique ways before being captured by a strange and wonderful array of microphones (in full 24-bit 44.1kHz quality!). 8 Bit Kit is the brainchild of S. Husky Hoskulds whose 8 Bit Audio production company has produced recordings for Tom Waits, Fantômas, Joe Henry, The Wallflowers and many more. The philosophy behind 8 Bit Kit is to deliver fascinating and different sounds: kicks detuned and hit with paint rollers or with chains attached; modified snares with calf-skin or kevlar heads fitted; unique cracked and warped hihats. Other highlights include bongos, hand drums, tambourines, claps and junk percussion alongside vintage analogue drum machines recorded both dry and played out over a custom PA rig in the drum room – these sound great layered with other drums or naked in your mix.

BFD Sleishman Drums features a Maple Classic kit and a bonus reduced-detail 14″ maple snare played with both sticks and rods (from BFD Sleishman Snares). The kick is tuned to be punchy and tight and is recorded with felt and rubber beaters. The 3 included toms possess stunning natural sustain and are provided with additional rim shot and rim click articulations (BFD3/BFD2 only).

BFD Vintage Recording Techniques is an expansion pack for BFD3 that uses a variety of vintage microphone techniques to capture a beautiful Ludwig Classic Maple drum kit. The result is a selection of familiar, authentic vintage sounds suitable for rock, pop, blues and more. Our engineers used world renowned drum recording techniques including ORTF, Glyn Johns, and Blumlein. Direct microphones were expertly placed on all kit pieces to ensure the pack has a wide range of mixing possibilities and can deliver authentic drum sounds from vintage to modern.
