Mr. Sax T. employs an entirely new technology, developed by Stefano Lucato when it became clear that all the previously applied approaches simply could not do. The technical name is Synchronous Wave Triggering. It uses samples as a base material, chromatically performed by a professional sax player over a very wide dynamic range, and recorded with state-of-the-art technology. The resulting timbre is therefore that of the real instrument. But the analogy with a sample based library ends here. The underlying, proprietary technology allows continuous interpolation among different vectors like time, dynamics, pitch and formants.
ROLA-78 is an accurate re-creation of the ROLAND CompuRhythm CR-78, a very influential drum machine released at the end of the 1970s. Every sound has been meticulously sampled, some at multiple accent levels and with round-robin variations. All the original rhythms and variations have also been re-created. Included are KONTAKT snapshots that reproduce the rhythms and settings of famous songs that featured the CR-78. Enhancements include an adjustable swing section, “free fills” that produces randomized fill-ins from snippets of the existing fill-ins, and a MIDI file recorder.
