‘Istanbul Cumbush’ a collection of traditional cumbush melodies that have been professionally played by exceptional musicians to reflect its unique and characteristic sounds. The cumbush is a Turkish stringed instrument of relatively modern origin. It was developed in 1930 by Zeynel Abidin Cumbush (1881-1947) as a fretless oud-like instrument that could be heard as part of a larger ensemble. It is shaped like an American banjo, with a spun-aluminium resonator bowl and skin soundboard. Although originally configured as an oud, the instrument has been converted to other instruments by attaching a different set of neck and strings.

The concept of the mandolin is very simple. You can play any note on any string between the open string (0 fret) and the 12nd fret using key switches. I made this kontakt instrument so I can have the ability to play any note that I want, that way I can play the mandolin and have the same spacing of the chords that the mandolin has and the same tone that the strings has. It’s very important to have the right TONE OF THE STRING so it will sound the right way. In the mandolin you can select always the right note on the right string or you can select the open strings if you like that sound. you can decide what is right to you it’s your choice. You can hear it clearly if you play arpeggio notes, but also if you play fast chords up and down strokes.

In this era, Jazz musicians mingled with Progressive Rock musicians and developed a new style which was strongly inspired by the improvisational freedom of Jazz musicians of that time. Bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Colosseum and Brand X on the Jazz Rock front, as well as iconic Progressive Rock acts such as Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Utopia, can be all reminisced throughout this soaring collection. The year of 1974 was chosen for this title as this pack is strongly old-school keyboard-orientated music, featuring keyboard solos and lead parts recorded live with the likes of Rhodes, Hammond organs and monophonic synths of the time. In 1975 Moog introduced their Polymoog, which was soon followed by the OB4, the CS80, the Prophet 5 and the Jupiter 6.
