UPDATE NEWS— C254-E has just received a major V2 update. The update is HUGE. Everything was rebuilt from the ground up, it’s really an all-new product. The programming has been completely redone, resulting in an entirely new, vastly improved compressor. Attack times, release times, everything is vastly improved, even including the samples (re-rendered from the original tone sweeps to allow for better edits as well as reducing stereo differences). This is now my most accurate compressor, by far. I spent months on this update, determined to make one of the best Nebula compressors out there, and learned a lot of new techniques in the process.

4k Crush For NEBULA

These programs are based on a stereo pair of compressors which are essentially remakes (made by the same company) of the channel compressors found in the famous 4k mixing desks. Two units were sampled, in a stereo setup. Hard and soft knee modes were both captured and recreated for use with Nebula. There’s also a special bonus ‘knee select’ set of programs that allow you to transition between soft and hard knees (not possible with the hardware). As usual with my compressors, the attack and release were recreated as closely as possible, with the time settings then being extended beyond what the hardware allows. Great for adding its own very particular crunch to kicks and snares and just about anything else! Up to well over 30dB of compression is possible with the hard knee mode, and around 28dB with the soft knee. There’s also a ‘pass-through’ program that works like the typical Nebula preamp style programs, useful for getting some tone of the hardware without any compression. Lastly, there are some really nice skins by JPN!

Three reel to reel tape decks of the same model, typically used for mixdowns/masters, were sampled for use in Nebula. The resulting four tape programs are usually subtle but can be driven for more noticeable harmonics and tone. There are also 6 reverb programs which were sourced from my other reverb libraries, then printed onto and back off of tape with two of these decks. These reverbs give you some tools for mixing use, rounding out the collection.
