In this course – you will learn how to create a “modern” Deep House track fast and how to get ideas quickly. We will remix a popular track from Calvin Harris and remake it from scratch into a Deep House track. In just a few hours you will learn how to overcome writers block and arrange your track fast. I have produced electronic music ever since I met DJ’s like Avicii, Alesso or Otto Knows (they actually went to the same High School as me in Stockholm, Sweden) and that is for a long time – over 10 years now – and a few years ago I got to a point where I couldn’t get past writers block and I didn’t know what to produce anymore. The genre “Electronic Music” started to get generic and after a while the style got slower in tempo – from 128BPM to 110BPM and even slower. After trying to experiment with tempo and different style I became a lot more inspired to create music again.

With a minimal setup of a computer and a keyboard, you can dive into a world of endless possibilities and create your own instrumental electronic music composition. In this class, we’re going to create a song by exploring the beat, the bass and the lead melody; the three basic elements to our piece. By the end, you’ll be ready to create your own electronic song with mood and feeling. All you need for this class is a computer with the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of your choice, a keyboard and a pair of speakers or headphones. Basic knowledge of music is helpful but not mandatory.
Learn an intuitive approach to music composition for film, TV and game music. This workshop will not require reading or writing music notation (although examples will be available). This workshop-style course will introduce you to the elements of music that are necessary for creating emotional moods in your compositions. You will compose 3 different musical cues (short, 30-second compositions) representing 3 specific moods (urgent, calm and creepy). This course will introduce you to valuable music theory concepts and walk you through the process of composing these 3 cues. You will learn when and how to use musical elements such as rhythm, harmony, melody and scales to convey emotion effectively and quickly.
