Emulator X3 Software Sampler is the culmination of over 30 years of sampler development that offers the sound quality, synthesis and filters of E-MU’s hardware samplers and introduces a host of new tools that includes SynthSwipe automated hardware sampling, TwistaLoop non-destructive audio manipulator, Morph Filter Designer to create custom filters, Multi-Function Generator for advanced LFO/envelope/arpeggiator programming, advanced Transform Multiply convolution DSP tool, real-time control of multiple loop points, REX2 and MP3 import, and much more. Russian Masters is a CD-ROM for the Emu family of Emulator IVX, EIV, E64, E6400, EIIIX, ESI-32 and EIII samplers which incorporates 80 banks of digital instrumentation from the former Soviet Union and parts of Asia. These folk and ethnic acoustic instruments were recorded by Martin Kiszko from the U.K. The 600 megabyte CD-ROM includes looped and unlooped versions of many of the instruments. In addition, all solo instrument trills were recorded in half-step intervals, so when playing more than one note, you will hear the real trills (no digital pitch shifting at any interval).

The Orbit is first in E-mu’s new line of dance modules. This is strictly engineered for the techno artist. It has 8 MB of samples of all the great vintage analog sounds plus many familiar and typical sounds used in house, hip hop, trance, and techno. It includes an essential digital VCF-like filter that is (on many presets) usually controlled from the modulation wheel on your keyboard controller! It’s great for filling tracks with lush sweeping pads, or trancing along a 303 bassline pattern and filtering away. It is a beautiful golden single-space rack unit with a big easy to read LCD. Its sounds are, well they’re digital so they are a little harsh and ‘tinny’ but add a little ‘verb and some delay and it sounds damn good! It is already being used by lots of techno artists around the world including Todd Terry, Roni Size, ATB, and Orbital.
