SOME SEVENTIES IDEAS.

Inspired by the artists that wrote the soundtrack to the seventies. Even though disco may have been the prevalent genre on the airwaves and in the clubs of the ’70s, artists like Elton John, the Eagles, ABBA, John Lennon, the Bee Gees and countless others started a pop revolution that has yet to go away. This is where the Seventies Pop EZkeys MIDI pack takes off. Inspired by the immortal legacy of the artists that topped the charts during the decade, this collection of MIDI leaves out the rowdiest rock-influenced tunes and instead hones in on the more mellow side of the pop spectrum. Expect dramatic ABBA-esque chords, lots of rhythmic strumming à la Elton John, some Bowie-clever melodic twists and turns as well as all the timeless chord progressions you need to get started writing your next slew of ’70s-inspired pop tracks.

Obscure Breaks WAV

The breaks were recorded with an all-analog chain. No plugin effects used. All drums were played at 92BPM with plenty of Soul! The samples were recorded with the Audix DP7 drum microphone pack using a combination of a Universal Audio, 4-710D, Universal Audio 2 610 and 3 Rupert Neve Portico preamps. If that is not enough, Erik fed everything through the preamps into an SSL Stereo Bus Compressor and finally recorded to them Studer A800 Tape Machine. Be prepared to chop in your favorite sampler and make some hits. Again, this is a Breaks Only Pack (with one-shots). The demo song has other instruments to show you how great these will sound with your own samples.

EPs Cascade is based on highly esoteric vintage components combined in a truly unique circuitry. It is anything but your typical audio processor. Daydream is an intimate release that includes four instruments geared towards emotional, ethereal contexts. For the Cozy Piano patch, we recorded an upright piano at the pianissimo range with a stereo pair of Neumann KM 184’s placed behind the piano. Great patch if you’re looking for a soft, intimate piano with just enough character. We also recorded a crossfade-able, arrhythmic soft sustains performance patch. With the modwheel down, the ebbing of notes is spacious and subtle. As you crossfade up, the ebbing grows with a touch more urgency and dynamics. Also included is Recollections; a designed, organic, quietly percolating instrument using arrhythmic piano recordings as source material. Finally the Ether Violin, which utilizes recordings of real auto-panned soft tremolo performances captured “in-camera”. This involved using a pair of stereo mics while the player physically leaned left/right at various speeds while performing the tremolo.
