Rawpacks 7 – 9 is a cool collection of samples from SP12Hundred, who learned the basics about music production at his local youth club, the Brixton Park basement project, which provided a simple mixing desk, drum machine and a sampler. Whilst learning the tricks of the trade he was blown away by “Pete Rock ‘nstrumentals” and has never looked back since. He bought his first Sp1200 soon afterwards and has been using it to mould his own brand of dark and moody hip hop.

‘Dust Road: Vintage Massive Presets’ transform NI Massive from a cold, hard beast into a fuzzy, warm, analogue monster. Fed up with the typically fixed and predictable sound of digital audio, experimented with Massive’s extensive variety of wavetables and dizzyingly complex modulation capabilities to conjure up this set of 50 .nmsv presets and 50 accompanying MIDI loops. Oscillators, filters, effects and even modulators have been spun out of kilter to produce a pack of only saturated, lush, unstable and truly characterful presets. This collection of bass, chord, pad, pluck, lead and classic synth sounds bend pitches, blend waveforms, blur filters and blitz standard routings, all to gorgeous effect. Did you think soft synths were only capable of producing stale, mechanical sounds? Well, think again!

VCL-4 is a faithful emulation of the silver face revision of the op-amp-based successor of THE classic late 60s opto leveler. It provides you with unintrusive to extreme program dependent and musical opto compression. The switchable ratio option makes for a flexible solution over a wide range of source material. During the modeling process Fuse Audio Labs rebuilt the entire original circuit on strip board, however replacing the original opto-cells that were made up of an LED and an photoresistor with suitable Vactrols. Every part of the circuit including the receiver stage, the side-chain and Vactrol LED driver circuit, the Vactrol itself as well as the push-pull driver stage and the output transformer has been accurately modeled.

The VCL-373 is a recreation of an early 60s broadcasting limiter/compressor that eventually found its way into many mastering studios. 1963 marks a technological shift in that the famous diode-bridge based gain reduction stage was replaced by a transistor-based circuit that allowed for less THD and more reliable control voltage tracking. The plugin includes a faithful emulation of the audio transformers, the crucial feedback compression circuitry as well as the discrete class A make-up amplifier. Some convenient features including a continuous drive control, gain compensation, GR metering and a dry/wet mix have been added in the digital domain.
