In this video tutorial series, studio guru shows you the ins and outs of u-he’s amazing compressor Presswerk, as well as how to use it on your instruments! Brock starts with an introduction to Presswerk, and a brief background of software developer u-he. From there, Brock reveals all the controls you’ll find in Presswerk, diving deep into the Compression, Dynamics, Mix, and Meter sections. That leads into an exploration of Presswerk’s sidechain and saturation circuits. Next, Brock shows you how you can use Presswerk to add punch to both individual drum tracks and the drum bus, as well as how to thicken the mix by using Presswerk on bass.

Diva Skyline Vol 2 is a collection of 128 sounds for u-he’s Diva, aimed at analogue, electronic sounds for film scoring and electronica. As the classic sounds of analogue synthesizers becomes ever more popular, not everyone can afford a collection of Junos, Prophets, Moogs and Oberheims. However, u-he’s Diva does give us about as accurate a recreation of those circuit-based monsters as we can get on a sensible budget. Diva Skyline aims to provide some of that much-loved analogue vibe for modern composing and electronica. It’s inspired by recent synth-heavy film scores such as Tron Legacy by Daft Punk, Oblivion by M83, and Ex Machina by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury; as well as less well known gems such as It Follows by Disasterpeace and The Duke of Burgundy by Cat’s Eyes. There are even a few nods to classic John Carpenter and the revivalist Synthwave genre, as well as The Unfinished favourites: Olafur Arnalds and Jon Hopkins.

Zebra Gravastar For U-HE ZEBRA2

Zebra Gravastar is a collection of 180 sounds for u-he’s Zebra2 synthesizer, aimed at cinematic scoring with a dark, organic edge. The bulk of this soundset was originally designed for composer Jason Graves to use for his amazing score for Ubisoft’s Far Cry: Primal. Jason’s brief for the project was hilariously simple: “Imagine synthesizers as played by cavemen.” So, Gravastar focuses on non-traditional synth sounds, inspired by more natural sonic character: wood, glass, rock, dirt, noise, distortion, resonance, light and fire. The soundset is full of deep rhythms, shadowy pulses and ethnic loops, as well as ghostly textures, tectonic bass and luminescent pads. These sounds are alive and breathing; growing and evolving.
