Code Red is inspired by two versions of the classic, all tube, British console form the 1960s most closely associated with the sound of The Beatles. Preamps featured in two versions of the original console are accurately simulated using models based on the full circuit simulation. Console’s original, “Pop” and “Classic”, EQs had fixed characteristic frequencies and Qs. To make the plug-in more versatile, we made the EQ fully adjustable. While we were at it we added two more mid bands and a high pass filter for added functionality. Fear not, the original EQs are still available, as presets.

The archetypal preamp was released in the early 1950s and built by several iconic brands such as Maihak, TAB, Siemens and TFK. A legend in itself to the present day, the V72 also became the blueprint for the later V76 and the classic REDD.47 preamps used on numerous Beatles sessions.

Warmifier is a special audio effect AudioUnit, AAX, and VST plugin for professional sound and music production applications which processes audio signal in a way similar to analog tube equipment. By using Warmifier you can achieve analog “warming” and “console” coloration effects. Warmifier is applicable both to the complete mixes and to the individual instrument tracks. You have several parameters at your disposal that allow you to control the strength and the coloration of the effect. Also, you have several tube types to choose from. Each tube type offers a different overall coloration. While the effect of this plugin is definitely subtle, the difference it makes is similar to the difference in sound between various analog mixing consoles. In most cases it boils down to adding a subtle “sparkle”, “presence”, “warming”, or “solidifying” effect to a sound track the plugin was applied to.
