We partnered with our master luthier and designed an instrument from scratch looking for new sounds, new timbres, new possibilities of sonic fulfilment, and we created Circle Strings. Circle Strings is a peculiar instrument that can produce sound in every possible way – bowing the strings, plucking the strings, hitting the instrument, etc. Anything is possible; the secret is in the resonance of its sympathetic box. Everything started when we decided that looking for new sounds was the way to go. We called our master luthier and designed an instrument with experimentation in mind.
Welcome to The Basstard, an instrument focused on recording the gradual destruction of a full-scale orchestral bass. The library contains four core categories of sounds: “Tonal”, “Percussive”, “FX” and “Grooves”. The tonal category covers traditional multi-sampled articulations like plucked, staccato, rubber mallet on strings, regular drumstick on strings, fork on strings, and other tools that could be used for tonal sampling. The percussive category contains a variety of heavy round-robin based articulations, playing the instrument like a drum kit (containing 6-10 round robin articulations). The FX category has a gruesome number of effects such as bowing the bass with a baseball bat, using a power drill on the strings, recording sustained notes from it, and actually power-drilling the bass and reconfigureing the instrument, separating its neck from its body and essentially reassembling the instrument in horrible ways. The Groove category contains unique tempo-synched grooves recorded at several core tempos (80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140). The result is a deep-sampled instrument that pushes the concept of orchestral bass into a more dark, gritty, percussive and disturbing territory.
The 1971 Estonia Grand Piano is a comprehensively deep-sampled soviet-era Grand Piano. The Estonia Piano line is known as the secret Steinway of Eastern Europe – with a uniquely dark, emotional, and melancholic characteristic. The Estonia Grand contains both Sustains, Staccato and Plucked articulations, which can seamlessly be tailored together based on your compositional needs. The short note staccatos were recorded with 5 RR pr. velocity layer – offering you the ability to play incredibly fast licks with clear definition on the attack of the sound. The 1971 Estonia Grand Piano also contains our latest Chaos FX designed for sound design. We included many of our new custom Textural Convolution Delays, which gives the instrument the ability to delay textures from other non-piano sound sources.
Ultimate Heavy Midi Grooves. A versatile ‘all-rounder’ for varying styles of metal. From fast thrash beats, to blast beats, rock beats, build ups, intro sections, heavy breakdowns and a range of different types of fills. The MIDI is organised into 14 ‘song’ folders. Each ‘song’ is at a different bpm and has 14 or more grooves for you to utilise in your writing.
