Alicias Keys v1.5.0 LiTE

This is a light version of the Alicia’s Keys piano library. The library is based on a very rare Yamaha C3 Neo Grand Piano, owned by Alicia Keys herself. The library has a quite warm and intimate sound. It sounds the best in the middle range of keys, but unfortunately has something weird going on with the release behaviour in the lower keys. It sounds great in Pop, R&B and Jazz contexts, but does a fine job in Cinematic pieces too. Since there was no update to the sample content, both the original v1.0.0 NKI as well as the v1.5.0 NKI are included in the release for convenience and backwards compatibility. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 48kHz format. The samples were converted to 16-bit 44.1kHz and repacked into NKX containers. A null test results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible at all. Also, after quite some testing, no issues were found with noise floor build-up when playing lots of notes. The conversion process takes the size down to 2.74GB from the original 6.98GB, which is a 61% reduction!

This is a light version of the Vienna Concert Grand piano library. This instrument is based on a Bosendorfer 290 Imperial. It originally appeared in the Akoustik Piano software. Despite its age, I think it’s still quite a useful piano library, especially because it has those 9 notes below A0 going to C0, giving it a full 8-octave range. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 44.1kHz WAV format. The samples were converted to 16-bit files. A null test with the original samples results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible by any means! The samples were converted to KONTAKT’s proprietary NCW format, and then packed into NKX containers for convenience. The result is a reduction in size of around 82%, and space savings of 2.4GB!

Upright Piano v1.3.0 LiTE

This is a light version of the Upright Piano library. This instrument is based on a Steingraeber 130. It originally appeared in the Akoustik Piano software. Despite its age, I think it’s still quite useful as a lightweight upright piano library. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 44.1kHz WAV format. The samples were converted to 16-bit files. A null test with the original samples results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible by any means! The samples were converted to KONTAKT’s proprietary NCW format, and then packed into NKX containers for convenience. The result is a reduction in size of around 82%, and space savings of 2.1GB!
