This is the home of the worlds first multi-sampled rare and beautiful 150 (ish) year old DULCITONE, and infact one of the few ways you can listen to what one actually sounds like. Originally designed and manufactured in Scotland in the 1800′s, and with allegedly only 2000 in existence the DULCITONE is a portable keyboard that was made for missionaries to hump around remote african village churches to help perk up hymn services. It has a very basic piano action with spring loaded felt covered hammers striking small magnet shaped tuning forks. Its a bit like a Fender Rhodes electric piano without the electric bits, and has a very lovely woody, clonky glockenspiel/celesta kind of sound.

Samples from a funny little Kala ukulele bass. It’s about the size of a kid’s guitar and has big fat rubber strings which are a nightmare to tune. It’s not very loud acoustically but when DI’d, it has a wonderful round, rubbery bottom end with a lovely hint of twang which belies its tiny stature. Its a little bit double bassy, but essentially has a character all of its own. It’s not likely to be your go-to-bass sound , but for certain things it is bloody marvelous! I’ve sampled the bejesus out of it it with eight layers of round robin of every note and a layer of adjustable note off finger release. There’s also four pages of Kontakt scripting, including an arpeggiator, which is really great for quickly playing throbbing basslines and the organic-ator brings a bit of humanity to your sequencing.

A hybrid imaginary sample instrument for Kontakt made from 6 combine-able articulations recorded from a variety of electric and acoustic stringed instruments and analogue hardware. The Pendleonium² can create a wide range of raw, dusty timbres, it’s guitar-ish, kinda stringy-y, and a little bit naive, she can sound like anything from a battered mellotron to a rusty balalaika. All recorded at 24-bit with plenty of velocity levels for a total size of 951MB uncompressed.
