The deepest koto, bass koto and shamisen library ever released, featuring world-class performer Masayo Ishigure! 2 mic positions, extensive dynamics and RRs, FX patches and extensive traditional and contemporary articulations. We created Koto Nation out of a desire to see traditional Japanese instruments receive a deep, thorough sampling treatment, much like our acclaimed North Indian sample library Sitar Nation. While there are a handful of libraries which include samples of the koto and shamisen, they feature only the most basic articulations and few (if any) velocities or round robins. To our knowledge, the bass koto has never been sampled at all! Given the popularity of the shakuhachi and taiko in many Western film soundtracks, we wanted to allow film composers, hobbyist producers, ethnomusicologists, anime fans and everyone in between access to these classic instruments and complete the repertoire of traditional Japanese sounds available.

Puremagnetik has released Devil07, which is an emulation of the classic Roland TR-707 drum machine as upgraded by Diabolical Devices. It is available for Ableton Live 8, Kontakt 4, Renoise 2.7 and Logic 9. The TR-707 used for this library was completely upgraded by master circuit bending technician Diabolical Devices. Using a system of patches and switches, each “bent” sound was explored and all of its expressions captured with high resolution a/d conversion. The library includes a collection of “Mechanical”, “Bitpitched”, “Shorted” and “Rusted” sounds all categorized into individual banks. The Ableton Live version is a standalone Live Rack. It has been programmed to deliver a seamless instrument experience with easily tweakable expression and voicing parameters.

We’ve gone all the way and recorded most of the commonly used Middle Eastern melodic styles (maqams). The samples are available in all parallel western contemporary root keys. These can easily be triggered and displayed in the Kontakt user interface. For easy and quick scoring Desert Voice provides patches with Arabian styled melodies which are harmonically mirrored to western minor scales.
