Men of the North is a low-voiced male choir that covers all things “Vikings.” It features a wide collection of ambience, atmosphere, drone, pad, legato, word-building and texture patches recorded at the legendary MGM Scoring Stage in Los Angeles. As the “swords and sandals / dragon” genre continues to dominate globally in television, video games, and film, composers must be continually armed with the appropriate colored samples to score these scenes.

A beautifully recorded character piano with the warm thump of strings deadened by a well-sponged thumb. Sponge Piano is what happens when you multi-sample a conventional piano in an unconventional way. The aim here is to create a new piano timbre. Something which carries the weight, emotional oomph and playability of a traditional piano. But with something a little different going on.
Back in the day, the original Fender Precision bass came with a plate over the bridge with a dampener built in. Leo Fender patented the bridge mute in 1966 with the idea of mimicking the deadened thud of a double bass. But those crazy rock n roll kids weren’t so keen and tended to remove the cover for more sustain. But the lovely, woofy, woolly thud of dampened bass strings was embraced by many of the Motown players, Paul McCartney in the early days and most famously Carol Kaye, the bass player on all the great Beach Boys recordings.
