    Sixties Pop Grooves MiDi

    SIXTIES POP CHOPS.

Pop grooves and fills inspired by the ’60s pop and rock revolution. Transitioning from rhythm and blues, rock ’n’ roll and soul to a more open sound, the ’60s pop era is one of blurred lines when it comes to drums. Suddenly, drummers were caught in the midst of a musical and cultural revolution bursting with innovation, calling for new ideas, grooves and personality. Pop and rock players like Bobby Orr, Mick Avory, Keith Moon, Levon Helm, Charlie Watts, Mitch Mitchell, Ringo Starr and others in many ways rewrote the role the drums used to have in a pop or rock song. “From a drum perspective, the ’60s is an era of extreme forward musical thinking. I’d like to think of this decade as the musical cradle that shaped the modern pop and rock drum hero. Finally, the drums did more than just play along. Much like in a jazz setup, they were in the forefront of the sound and a pivotal part of the overall expression”, says drummer Norman Garschke.

    AOR Ballad Grooves MiDi

    P2P | 01.01.2020 | 7.42 MB

GET YOUR BALLADS BACK ON TRACK.

A profound collection of timeless rock grooves inspired by AOR ballads from the golden age of the ’70s and ’80s. While the AOR genre already had gained a big following in the late ’70s and early ’80s rock scene, what made it break through to the mainstream tier and not only conquer the worldwide airwaves but also the movies is largely attributed to ballads. Bands and artists like Peter Cetera, Journey, Foreigner and Toto all had massive worldwide hits with their ballads, putting slick, meticulously produced AOR on the commercial map in an all-new way. Now, rock wasn’t all about being loud, it was just as much about musicality, songwriting, craft and skill – all the common traits of AOR. Drummers became a central part of the sound of this era. Players like Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd, Jim Keltner and John Robinson would go on to inspire a whole new generation of drummers around the world.

    GROOVES THAT ROCK HARD.

Drum grooves and fills inspired by hard rock music of the past four decades. Any decent drummer can play a basic beat, but not all can throw down a groove. There’s a dichotomy between the two that sometimes is painfully obvious. One rocks, the other not so much. In this collection, Rival Sons’ sticksman Michael Miley shows that his drumming undoubtedly belongs in the category that rocks. His sense of timing, feel, musicality and overall ability to play rudimentary drum grooves that just scream for a bass, a guitar and a vocal is second-to-none. In Michael Miley’s Hard Rock Grooves, we give you basic drum grooves and fills that are meant to serve as the linchpin in your next batch of hard rock songs. No unnecessary frills or uncalled-for prowess, just great drums that need your music.

    Eighties Pop Grooves MiDi

    P2P | 05.01.2020 | 7.44 MB

    A NEW SCHOOL OF GROOVE.

Drum beats and fills ready for your modern eighties-flavored pop songs. Pop drums in the eighties were somewhat a marriage between two eras. At one end of the scale, drum machines and monotonous beats were forcing their way into the sound of the time, while on the opposite side, groove, feel and timing were more important than ever. Amid all this was the traditional drummer, caught in an age when technology came head to head with tradition. Producers introduced click-tracks on a larger scale, asked drummers to play with machine-like precision to not clinch with their sequenced parts and had them lay down their tracks as the first step in a production – all while session drummers like John Robinson, Ricky Lawson, Phil Collins, Manu Katché, Jonathan Moffet, Jeff Porcaro, Kenny Aronoff and Stewart Copeland rose to iconic fame and had more work than ever. This era is indeed a man-against-machine scenario, where drummers who bridged the gap the best came out on top. Who’ll ever forget those gated reverbs, larger-than-life drum fill breaks and machine-like beats? Interesting time indeed.

A JOURNEY BACK IN TIME SIGNATURES.

Basic rock grooves in close to any time signature imaginable.

By the end of the 1960s and continuing well into the late ’70s, bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Kansas, Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Genesis and Styx were in the vanguard of a musical shift in rock. Suddenly, uncommon time signatures, long solos, technical passages, dragged-out instrumental parts and lyrical themes out of this world not only became common but largely accepted even on a commercial scale. In short: the prog rock scene that rose during this period applied extra everything – to everything. Maybe so the most in terms of drums. To this day, the timeless chops of Neil Peart, Phil Collins, Bill Bruford, Alan White and many others continue to inspire and set the bar. In the wake of this musical overthrow and inspired by the iconic drummers of the era, the Seventies Prog Grooves MIDI pack takes off. But although this collection of MIDI offers its fair share of technicality, the main idea behind it was to keep it plain, simple and easy to understand.
