‘Kazakh Dombra’ contains professionally played and recorded melodies that are ready to allow you to discover the unique sounds of Dombra. ‘Dombra’ is originated from the Kazakh and Kyrgyz, it has two-stringed and long-necked instruments played with arpeggios. This instrument is also popular among Turkic communities in Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, as well as Mongolia. The original Kazakh dombra has frets and is played by strumming with the hand or plucking each string individually, with an occasional tap on the main surface of the instrument. It is very important in the culture of Kazakh and The National Dombra Day is celebrated in Kazakhstan every first Sunday of July. Baglama or ‘saz’ is a folk instrument whose history goes back more than 1000 years, to a time when Turks first started settling in Anatolia. For centuries poets reflected their deepest emotions with baglama and it became an essential instrument for all kinds of traditional celebrations, including weddings. Meanwhile the instrument’s popularity spread from Asia to Anatolia, to Rumelia and even to some parts of Europe. It is still one of Anatolia’s dearest and most precious sounds.

‘Istanbul Qanun’ contains a set of professionally played, incredibly rich, traditional and complex melodies that allow you to discover the world of Qanun! ‘Qanun’ is a member of the stringed instruments and has the form of a trapezoid shape, the shape serves the purpose of adjusting the length of the strings. The strings of qanun are plucked by a ring-shaped plectrum placed on the index fingers. On the left side, there are pegs also known as ‘burgu’ which are used to tune the instrument. The Turkish qanun consists of 24, 25 or 26 sets of strings of two or three strings each (generally giving a total of 75) also features special metallic levers called ‘mandal’ on the left side. These features were not present until the 1870s. On contemporary Turkish qanun, there are six to fifteen mandals for every three strings that the performer can alter quickly when playing. On the right end of the instrument, the strings are stretched over the bridge called ‘esik’ made of lamb or fish skin.

‘Azerbaijani Tar’ contains professionally played and recorded melodies ready to allow you to discover the unique sounds of Tar. The Tar is a Turkish folk instrument played with a plectrum which is also commonly used in Azerbaijan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Georgia. Its body is composed of two bowls of different size and is generally made from mulberry trees. The gögüs section is covered with a membrane taken from the heart of water buffaloes or cattle. Sap section is from hard wood and fish line pitches are tied onto it. There are two main groups of strings on tar. Those in the first group are used in playing the tune and consists of three groups of two strings. The other group of strings are called Kök and Zengi, and are tuned according to the mode to be used and enhance the tone.
