MPC60 Vol. 3 features over 1,000 sounds sampled on a vintage Akai MPC-60 sampler. This is the last in the MPC60 series of sample packs. It includes: Layered Drums, Vinyl Drums, Various Drum Machines, FX and even some synth sounds…. all sampled on the MPC60. Then captured as 24 bit wav files. These are some seriously solid samples dripping with the 60’s legendary sonic character. Taking a look at the sound sources for volume 3 of the MPC60 series you may notice some familiar names like the Oberheim DMX, Emu Drumulator, Roland CR-78, MFB522, Vermona DRM and Linn LM-1 drum machines. Following a Soniccouture tradition of playing instruments the wrong way, we present this unique library of a Bowed Gamelan instrument. This library is actually made from just one instrument of the gamelan ensemble, the ugal. This is pitched in the middle of the gamelan range, and so is quite versatile and generally leads the gangsa section of a traditional Balinese group. This instrument has 14 keys which cover a range of almost 3 octaves. The metal Ugal keys were bowed using a standard cello bow, vertically across the thin edge of the metal. Instead of a conventional microphone, a Trance Audio Trance Inducer contact mic was used. This gives the sound an incredibly detailed, surgical scraping quality.

Welcome to Small Epic Percussion. A great collection of small orchestral and ethnic percussion instruments intended both to compliment our existing collection of epic drums. We captured the majority of them in the same epic hall and using the same techniques as our Epic Dohl Ensemble, Epic Tom Ensemble, Bamboo Stick Ensemble and other wet libraries, so we think it will mesh well with most of them right out of the box. It also stands alone as a unique toolbox of under-appreciated but often called-for items, like the tambourine and finger cymbals. We not only went out of our way to capture these instruments as deeply as we could muster, but tried as much as possible to discover new ways of thinking about and playing them. You may notice some unorthodox articulations included with some of the instruments, as well as a few strange combinations and mutations.
