Boy have we got something special for you…591 of the fattest, chunkiest, raw drum loops money can buy. Laced with a lethal dose of analogue saturation, this killer sample pack has all the ingredients needed to blow the bloody doors off! Haven’t we heard enough of the Amen Break? Isn’t the James Brown Funky Drummer sounding a little dated? Well, we think it’s time to move on. Each groove comes with 3 mix/mic combinations for total flexibility. Option 1 is a tight, chunky feel, number 2 is fat, juicy analogue fuzz and option 3 is crisp, lofi and crushed. The drum kit is a beautiful vintage Gretsch and was mic’d up with everything Greenmount could throw at it, including various rare broadcasting mics, ribbons, valves and an inverted NS-10 sub mic. Everything was then tracked to 16 track 2 inch tape. The machine is a pristine condition 3M M79 and has previously recorded some huge names in its previous life at Island Records studio in the 70’s and The Way Studios, London in the 90’s. At mix down, the mic’s were selected to give a different vibe for each mix and then processed independently to give completely unique drum sounds. The sample library out over tempos 90, 100, 110, 120, 140 and 170 there is something in here for every style, be that hip hop, disco, drum and bass, funk, soul, pop, rock, breaks, dubstep..you name it, it’s there!
Drums…, the most crucial part of of your mix that can make or break a track. For decades pro engineers have used various combinations of compressors, pre-amps ,eq’s and saturation to make styles of sounds that stand out. Not just a compressor or eq, Loc-Ness is the mystical plugin that brings all the right controls and colors for drums to your workstation . This is a dedicated channel designed for processing Individual Drum Hits, The room sound, and the entire drum bus.
MPC Beats: Drum & Bass. This collection includes 64+ exclusive punchy drum breaks, recorded directly from the famous Akai MPC, which makes them sound warmer and fantastically kicking. There’s some secret in that machine. We do not know why it sounds so fat and solid, but it really does. Hundreds and thousands of producers have used this piece of hardware since the late 80’s and it’s still the score for contemporary music nowdays. The pack is about different substyles of Drum & Bass, including Drumfunk, Techstep, Liquid Funk, Neurofunk, Dubwise, Atmospheric and many more. It’s vinylistic, funky, groovy and catchy. These loops are gonna inspire you to create your own awesome tunes! The sample pack is available in 24-bits WAV and REX2 formats. BPM range: 165-175.

For years I’ve been teaching Music Technology in the college classroom. As a University Professor, my classes are sought after, and, frankly, expensive. I believe Ableton Live can be learned by anyone, and cost shouldn’t be a barrier. This class uses the same outline and syllabus I’ve used in my college classes for years, at a fraction of the cost. In this class, we are going to be making beats. Drum beats, in particular. You don’t need to know music theory, harmony, reading music, or any particular audio application. I’ll be using Ableton Live and some Logic in this course, but it will be easy to following along on whatever program you are most comfortable with. We will start the class off with basic rhythm theory, and learning where (typically) we put the kick, the snare, and the hi-hats. Then we will learn to adapt that pattern to work for a number of different styles. This is a comprehensive class – that means there are three (3!) different classes that together make the complete sequence. This is Part 1. (The best place to start!)
