      Rippling and Dreamy

Guzheng, as one of the most representative Chinese instruments, first appeared around the Warring States period (475 – 221 BC), then became extremely popular during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 AD) and spread to all neighboring areas ever since (e.g., Guzheng is the forefather of Japanese Koto). Guzheng was originally a rather simple instrument with only five strings. After all the years of evolution, today’s Guzheng has twenty-one strings and is still widely used in all kinds of Chinese music. Guzheng has a unique, rippling sound character. The playing techniques developed for Guzheng are also Extraordinary Live Performance Playability ChineeGuzheng II has an extensive sampleset which contains various types of tremolo, slide, glissando, and strumming. A hybrid crossover of brass and woodwind

Suona is rather unique. It is sort of a crossover between brass and woodwind. The sound of Suona is energetic, unapologetically harsh, abrasively brash, and proud-to-be-so-loud, blasting out everythings in sight. The sound is simply wild. Suona is believed to be derived from the Persian Zurna and slowly adopted by the Chinese in the course of history. By the time of the Ming Dynasty (14th – 17th century), Suona is documented as a prevalent instrument in China. Today, Suona is still widely used at the local grassroot events such as weddings or religious festivals, especially in the rural area. Some modified versions of Suona are now the official instruments of large traditional Chinese orchestras.

          Being here, to be there

Erhu is a bowed instrument with two strings, originally dated back to Tang Dynasty(7th century A.D.), and is still being widely used today all over China in all kinds of music, from movie scores to opera. It’s one of the most representative classical Chinese instruments nowadays. It’s also very popular in the whole Asia. Erhu has a special synthetic flavour which is drastically different from the Western violin. Whilst violin sounds like a splendid soprano in a grand musical, Erhu tells her life story in a hoarse tone from the dark alley. This gives Erhu an unique sound character that’s like nothing else.  For the musicians who are after the purist Chinese sound, ChineeErhu is a must-have. For the musicians who are after exotic and inspirational string sound, ChineeErhu fits the need as well. ChineeErhu contains extensive expressions of legato, vibrato, F-p-F, staccatos, pizzicato, tremolos, glide and trills, cleverly woven and programmed to be used with MIDI aftertouch/modwheel, along with the keyswitch feature provided by the plugin, to bring the users the most lively articulations as easily accessible as possible.

PiPa: The Never-Stopping Chattering. Pipa (Chinese Lute) has its origin dated back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). As Pipa evolved, it was heavily influenced by Persian culture during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 AD) when the two great civilizations crossed over with each other, and became one of the most popular instruments in China ever since then As Pipa prospered in the most powerful Chinese dynasty, it left tremendous markings in the Chinese literature and culture. Pipa is most well-known for its rapid, successive playing style. A famous quote from a Chinese poem has it nailed: “[sounds like] the pearls, large and small, on a jade plate fall”.
