“Ambient Inspirations” – a 200mb collection of 30 atmospheric loops, soundscapes and beds that serve as a perfect starting point for chillout, ambient, and downtempo tracks. Each loop was meticulously crafted for inspiration and processed through various effect chains providing the unique character heard throughout this release. Samples are provided at 8 and 16 bar lengths for looping-ease. All loops are at 60bpm.

Ambient Black is the second of a linked pair of sound design-based virtual instruments designed to provide composers and producers with a collection of original instruments and textures suitable for all sorts of ambient music. As its name implies, Ambient Black covers the darker end of the ambient spectrum, focusing on harsh, aggressive, atonal, mysterious, and industrial sounds. Ambient White, the first VI in this series, covers the opposite end of the ambient spectrum. The majority of sounds used in the creation of Ambient Black were derived from organic sources: found sounds and audio recordings subjected to extreme sound design techniques, prepared and heavily processed musical instruments, and sounds recorded in natural environments. The synth sounds were also processed with sound design techniques, and combined with various organic sounds and instruments. The end result is a product that combines acoustic, human, industrial, and electronic elements to produce an organic-sounding virtual instrument.

As well as this, Slow has a powerful interface allowing for plenty of customisation. Each sound layer has their own custom LFO’s that can modulate multiple parameters allowing for sounds with movement and swell to be created.  Each layer has 4 effect slots, these have the categories Sculpt, Blur and Modify, with each category having a selection of effects available such as; reverb, convolution, tone, filters and distortion. A unique release, Groove Shadows consists of ambient, atmospheric loops that are perfect to add to your drumloops. If you’ve ever compose a track and thought something was missing, well, Groove Shadows is the answer. The perfect collection of grooves to add to your loops, covering all styles, with BPMs ranging from 40-180. One of the biggest sticking points is basic tenet that the loops have the ability to make your drum programming appear somehow more professional, a claim not helped by the rather dubious demos supplied. It’s a question of personal taste as much as anything here — I know that many musicians take a lot of time programming wacky little stereo noises into their rhythmic arrangements in order to sustain the listener’s interest, but there are others who consider this mere gimmickry. If you’re of the latter persuasion, then this CD is simply not for you.
