Atmos inhabits the space between the real and the fantastical. Bjulin’s work evokes the dimension, emotion and atmosphere of various scenes—like floating high above the clouds or standing at the edge of a mysterious forest. All 128 presets in this collection of arpeggios, leads, pads and ambient effects are permeated with a sense of space. Bjulin created the pure sounds to be sophisticated from the start, but applying Diva’s built-in effects thoughtfully, he manage to highlight each unique atmosphere and ambience. Featuring 38 pristine nature recordings from remote locations across the U.S., Biophony delivers a diverse collection of ambient environmental sounds. Delivered in 24-bit/96kHz Ambisonic B-format (FuMa) format as well as stereo, this library contains amphibians, sea animals, insects and other wildlife interacting within distinct biomes. Use these sounds to enliven your nature scenes with a rich, authentic ecological backdrop. To capture these sounds, recordist Jason Strawley and videographer Andrew Garraway traveled to four states from Florida to California with the goal of capturing a variety of ecosystems including swamps, ponds, and forests. The result is a dense collection of vibrant wildlife recordings brimming with life. According to Strawley, one of the most difficult aspects of the process was finding locations unaffected by human intervention, be it noise pollution or the overarching effects of climate change. In this Cubase video tutorial series, sound design guru Gary Hiebner shows you how to design your own lush, ambient pads using what you already have in Cubase, including VIs like Retrologue and Padshop, along with sampling/resampling techniques and other tips. By the end of this Cubase sound design course, not only will you know enough to start designing your own unique pads and ambient textures for your very next track, you’ll also be much more familiar with these instruments in general, making sound design quicker and easier overall. These Cubase production videos are designed for Cubase users familiar with Cubase and looking to learn how to create new pad sounds. To kick things off, Gary briefly discusses pads in general, explaining what they are and how they’re typically used in most productions. He then familiarizes you with the virtual instruments in Cubase that he’ll be using throughout the course. Then he concentrates on using pads for a song’s intro, demonstrating how to layer various synth pads together to create a complex, evolving sound.
