Production Review – Episode 1. See how the guys along with guest producer AJ Jenkins tackle a production makeover, including the steps they take, the reasons why, as well as creative tips and tricks for production and mixing. Bob and Erik start out by welcoming you and then introduce their guest producer AJ Jenkins, who has worked with Raven-Symoné, Bobby V, Avonlea, Courtney Bennett and many others. Together they play producer Eggo’s submitted production in Ableton Live, followed by the reproduced / augmented version AJ created. Throughout the course of this series you’ll see and hear how AJ approached his changes and the reasoning behind his decisions that made the production go to the next level. From all the different elements, production choices like adding live guitar, remixing the parts, exporting them for mixing in Pro Tools in another studio environment, roles that producers take on, and much more, this collection of videos is a great “peek over the shoulder” of a working professional’s workflow and decision making process.

Seurat is the first instrument to use our AGRA engine (Advanced Grain Recombination Architecture). Essentially this is a highly-customisable granular synthesis engine, used across the two complementary voices. Seurat allows you to manipulate the normal granular controls – grain size, grain frequency, attack and release of each grain and sample position but also adds a range of additional parameter controls for things like grain gain (volume), grain position variation (movement), the space between grains and the symmetry of grain positions in the audio flow offering a range of interesting and often unique outcomes.

Disctrict Xeo, a futuristic dystopian electro collection of sounds by the Berlin-based sound design and production studio IRRUPT. Traffic weaves from above. Skyscrapers clad with neon-lit signs fill the horizon. The music emerging from the city is cold and robotic, yet emotive – reflecting its futuristic urban gloom. Mechanical rhythms snap at whiplashing speeds, basslines squelch with funk, and mournful chords drape over pulsing arpeggiated synths. DISTRICT XEO recalls the classic electro-thrills of Drexciya, Aux 88, and Dopplereffekt, to the resurging electro labels of today like Central Processing Unit – reaching into cutting-edge genres like grime, trap, footwork, and beyond. The future isn’t pretty, but it sounds good.
