Nordic Noir is a huge new 3Gb Cinematic Crime, Drama & Action sample library based on and calling to mind the great soundtracks from that bleak and beautiful cinematic and TV genre. The sounds from the 32 construction kits have been cleverly created so that they can be interwoven and combined in innumerable ways. There are also extra pads, drumloops, piano and synths. Nordic Noir is the perfect example of the atmospheric and downbeat music accompanying some of film and TV drama’s most artfully staged scenes of murder, suspense, heartbreak and deceit. These sounds can equally play an integral role in the best thriller, crime and action dramas. The samples in Nordic Noir ignite the imagination, they are filled with tension and intimations of horror as well as serenity and beauty and are equally adept at quickening or lowering the heartbeat or deceiving you into a false sense of security or filling the listener with beauty and awe.
Detailed and realistic-sounding drum kit instrument for Kontakt and the free Kontakt Player, featuring one of the world’s finest and most technically skilled professional musicians – Martin France! We captured not only Martin’s musical expertise, but also his exceptional collection of drums and cymbals – from a very rare 1920s snare drum to classic ride cymbals from the 1960s and 1970s. Martin performed on three core kits, each characteristic of a different era, as well as additional pieces chosen for their versatility and colour. We recorded 36 kit pieces in all, for a total of nearly 33,000 samples. Martin’s performances were recorded in a huge church with really fantastic acoustics. We have designed the instrument so that you can go from a vast roomy explosive sound to a completely dry ‘dead room’ sound in an instant, or anything in-between.
This Steinway C piano was hand picked by Elmer Bernstein (while composing the score for ‘My Left Foot’) from the Steinway factory in Hamburg. Word spread across the industry and it soon made a name for itself as an exceptional sounding piano. Nowadays, many artists will record at Windmill Lane specifically to use this piano. Artists who have performed on this piano include Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Van Morrison, R.E.M, Ben Folds, The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga.
