CRTIV Shumovick plug-in for professional music production applications produces a creative dynamic noise-floor padding effect. This effect is most effective on beats and synth sounds used in electronic music production – EDM, hip-hop and the like. The noise-floor effect created by this plug-in is correlated to the spectral content of the sound being processed. As a result, on beats, this creates mellow noise bursts that make bassdrum sounds a lot softer, with a bit of stereo-field enhancement effect. On synths, on the other hand, such noise-floor effect may boost the power and density of the sound. Shumovick can be also effective when used on sterile-sounding basslines where it can add a bit of “pillowy” noise background. In practice, Shumovick can be also used on acoustic drum buses adding “vintage” feel and aggression to them. Shumovick is, however, not as effective when used on full mixes, but can be also used on full mixes in some music genres.

You can easily enhance or create depth in a track with the quick and easily accessible controls and you don’t have to worry that you push it too hard since whatever you do with Skyline you can’t break the mono-compatibility. Skyline consists of three main controls, Spread, Pan and Width. ‘Spread’ will either enhance the ambiance by using the information in the difference channel and spread it out in the stereo-field, or use the information from the sum-channel and spread that out in the stereo-field. The latter is great if you want to up-mix a mono-file to stereo. ‘Pan’ will pan the audio in the selected band and ‘Width’ will either boost the sum or the difference by 2dB without touching the other channel. A special feature of the BBCMP is that it enables the operator to split the incoming signal using the Low Pass and High Pass filters. These then allow you to apply processing (compression, limiting, expansion and gate) to each band independently. Once each band has been processed, the following signal pathway shows you how the separate bands are then summed to produce the final output. The great advantage of processing in this way is that you have full control over the extent to which the 2 bands are processed rather than only the summed signal being processed. This means that if, for example, the low end is strong and pushing the compressor to attenuate the signal when it comes into play, in a standard compressor the higher frequencies would also be compressed at these times. With the BBCMP you can separately control the low end and leave the high end relatively unprocessed, if that is what you need, or conversely deal with the high end and leave the low end with lesser processing.
