In this EZX, drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) and engineer Chris Rakestraw (Megadeth, Deftones, Parkway Drive) have teamed up to bring you the epitome of a metal expansion for EZdrummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3. It features three unique kits, a wealth of snare drums and kicks as well as over 30 cymbals – all flawlessly captured in one of the world’s most famed studios for hard rock and metal: Studio A at One On One in Los Angeles. Massive-sounding, warm and vibrant but at the same time just as tight and aggressive, this room has all the qualities to move air in a way that makes it seem custom-built particularly for hard-hitting metal drums. This goes to show on the plethora of defining records that were recorded here, some of which include the likes of Megadeth’s “Rust in Peace,” Metallica’s “…And Justice for All” and “Black Album,” Dream Theater’s “Awake” and Testament’s “The Ritual.” Each of the three drum kits included represents its own niched sound. One covers Dirk’s current touring setup, one is from his tenure in the band Soilwork and one was handpicked to offer a completely contrasting tone and vibe. All in all, you’ll have a balanced but eclectic palette of kits encompassing anything from the loud, aggressive and punchy to the big, low and warm.

Capturing the raw essence of how drums sound when recorded using a minimal vintage-meets-modern setup in a cramped basement studio, this expansion for EZdrummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3 presents arguably the most unpolished, gritty and tangible kits you’ll ever hear. Inspired by punk, hardcore, metal, indie, psychedelic rock, kraut and all peripheral offshoots of the underground scenes of the early ’90s until today, this is an eclectic collection of drums that sounds as far from the beaten path you possibly can imagine. If you’re looking for an EZX that is loud, decadent, angry and all-around fuming of unpretentious, nonchalant in-your-face energy, this one’s for you. The Underground EZX was recorded by Refused drummer David Sandström and engineer/producer/mixer Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona at the famed Studio Cobra – a small, low-ceiling basement studio in the heart of Stockholm, Sweden. From this dungeon-like place – brimming with tape machines, old tube gear and vintage instruments – Konie has been churning out productions bursting with his signature stripe of analog character for the likes of Refused and Tribulation, to name a few. With a collection of David’s own drums, the studio’s and those of bands and friends on the Stockholm scene, they made sure this EZX had four distinctly unique kits, each bringing its niched sound and vibe to the project. Expect a broad palette of scarred, road worn and tried-and-true kits all put through the paces on anything from big festival stages and underground club stages to a wealth of albums of all styles.

This MIDI pack covers upwards of 350 individually crafted drum MIDI files organized in 40 separate “songs,” each featuring two subfolders of groove variations as well as a third with a basic selection of fills. But, don’t let the simple confines of any individual song or folder constraint your ideas – this MIDI is meant to be experimented with. The EZX includes three full kits, all capturing that larger-than-life and all-American radio-friendly sound of the commercial and hook-driven pop punk music that has been a mainstay since acts like Blink-182, Simple Plan and Green Day broke onto the scene around the turn of the millennium. New Orleans v1.0.0 EZX

If you’re chasing the soul of drumming, all roads lead to New Orleans. This is the city where the drum kit as we know it was born, where jazz and funk first took shape and where rhythm has never been just a musical element – it’s the living pulse woven over centuries by African, Caribbean, French and Creole traditions, merging into that magical heartbeat we call groove. For this EZX, we traveled there to capture an all-encompassing drum library under the supervision of one of the city’s foremost experts on drumming, gear and groove: Terence Higgins (Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Dirty Dozen Brass Band). The New Orleans EZX was sampled by Terence Higgins himself and recorded by multi-award-winning engineer, producer and mixer Misha Kachkachishvili at his Esplanade Studios, one of the absolute hubs of today’s New Orleans recording circuit. Located in the vibrant Tremé neighborhood and housed in a completely remodeled 14,000-square-foot early 1900s church, it’s the largest recording studio in Louisiana. The main recording room in Studio A alone boasts a staggering 3,400-square-foot space with ceilings up to 26 feet high. Naturally, the ambience is awe-inspiring. For this recording, however, the drums were partially sectioned off using gobos to create a lively yet viscerally close feel.

For this EZX, we’ve teamed up with Jay Postones of TesseracT to deliver just that—and more. Featuring three unique kits, each carefully curated to deliver its own unique sound, it offers a wide palette of powerful drum parts. All kits were recorded in the Back Stage Studios room in Nashville by engineer Steve Blackmon. The room, reflective enough to give the drums a sing-song sound, yet dense enough to prevent natural reverb from drowning out detail, was the perfect choice to realize the overall concept of this EZX: brutally dark, powerful, and energetic, yet clearly articulate and dynamic drums for modern progressive metal.
