No Dough have teamed the Alpha Juno with the best of modern sound design and chains of super high- quality outboard to create 163 hybrid sampler instruments (Kontakt, EXS24, Halion, Reason) which epitomize the 90s sound. Each patch has been hand-crafted by running it through a custom set of outboard gear to bring the classic sound of the Alpha right up to date for the demands of contemporary producers and sound systems. Each patch is multisampled from the original hardware, also sampling numerous velocity layers in most patches to give you the expressiveness and responsiveness of the real kit.  To top it off, everything has been recorded in 96000hz double rates to capture every last detail in the highest quality.

The Jew’s harp, jaw harp, mouth harp, or Ozark harp, trump and juice harp, is thought to be one of the oldest musical instruments in the world; a musician apparently playing it can be seen in a Chinese drawing from the 4th century BC. Despite its common English name, and the sometimes used Jew’s trump, it has no particular connection with the Jewish people or Judaism. This instrument is native to Asia and used in all tribes of Turkish people in Asia where it is variously referred to as a temir komuz, agiz komuzu or gubuz. The instrument is known in many different cultures by many different names. The common English name “Jew’s Harp” is controversial and is avoided by many speakers. Another name used to identify the instrument, especially in scholarly literature, is the older English trump, while guimbarde, derived from the French word for the instrument, can be found in unabridged dictionaries and is featured in recent revival efforts.

The Bamboo Overtone flute is like a little sibling to the Eastern European, Fujara. However the flute is distinctively different and almost human like in the sense it only has two holes. The flute is played by muting the bottom of the flute with your palm and bending the note. The overtones are generated by playing softer or harder in the flute and actually allows it to spand over four octaves. The sound is best described as ethnic/ethereal, but with that very distinct overtone charm to it. We sampled the hell out of it by multi-sampling the overtones in sustains and staccato and by doing over +350 BPM (80-140) based phrases on top of this and with additional FX sections.

In much the same way that the rain stick harnesses the essence of rain, the Sand Drum harnesses the essence of the entire ocean; hundreds of quintillions of gallons of water. The unique surf-like sound is produced by a medium-sized enclosed drum about 1 1/4″ thick and filled with dozens of tiny silver metal beads. When gently rocked and rotated in a circular motion, the sand drum produces an amazing tidal effect, like waves ebbing and flowing. In addition to the ambient effects it creates, the sand drum, being a “drum” is also a unique percussion instrument offering a variety of different percussive elements. All core hit articulations were recorded at 10 x round robin.
