BFD Virtually Erskine is an expansion pack for BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 featuring 2 stunning kits played by the legendary drummer Peter Erskine. Having played with some of the biggest names in jazz, pop and rock such as Weather Report, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, Peter Erskine’s drum sound and groove are perpetually in demand. Peter Erskine played 2 DW drumkits and selected Zildjian cymbals for the recordings, conducted by experienced BFD sampling guru John Emrich in Peter’s own studio. BFD Virtually Erskine features almost 15GB of highly detailed instruments including selected stick and brush versions and is particularly suitable for jazz, pop, rock and fusion. An accompanying Groove Pack, Virtually Erskine Grooves, is also available. BFD Virtually Erskine is produced in association with Cymbal Masters.

Modern Rock Grooves is a BFD3 Groove Pack with inspirational and heavy beats for a variety of rock genres. Flare is a spectral ensemble effect based on the bucket-brigade delay line. It combines a waveshaper, multi-tap delay and tremolo into a simple musical tool with a ton of features under the hood. Dial in a dreamy chorus reminiscent of classic string machines, a Chebyshev style waveshaping distortion, auto-tremolo, spectral blurring and more. The first processing stage is routed through a Chebyshev waveshaper that creates rich harmonics and distortion. Post-waveshaper, the affected signal can be easily tapered with SWEEP – a filter modeled after the Moog diode lowpass. The audio signal’s adventures have only started though! Next begins the time and space warp paradigm. DEPTH controls a bucket-brigade ensemble effect while BLUR brings smearing across the spectral domain. Space and acousmatic modulators also include REVOLVE, DELAY and SHAKE – panning, echo and tremolo effects, respectively. Flare can do a lot of things with minimal UI controls. Tap into its versatility and pull musical things out of your sounds that you never knew were there.

BFD Crush for BFD3

BFD Crush is an expansion pack for BFD3, BFD2, and BFD Eco, that captures a stunning Crush Drums Sublime AXM drum kit. Tuned and processed by our in-house engineers to sound loud and proud out of the box, this kit is perfect for all progressive and technical rock and metal genres. It comes with a full complement of Meinl Byzance cymbals, which also includes a range of stacked cymbals. Our engineers used a range of exceptional microphones perfectly suited for heavier music. The kick drum was recorded in three variations; dampened, fully open, and without the resonant head, and was captured using the infamous Audix D6, Sennheiser E602, and the AKG D112. An AEA R84 ribbon microphone was also used to provide a different texture to the kick. The kit was recorded with three snares across eight variations, giving you a range of dampened and resonant tones, as well as low and high tunings. Our approach of using a combination of dynamic and condenser microphones on the snare gives you maximum flexibility, and we used a ribbon microphone on the snares too. We complement the kicks and snares with a set of six tom drums – two floor toms and four rack toms – which allow you to choose whether you want a set of three lower tuned toms, or three higher tuned toms. Or why not load all six toms at once for a huge progressive drum kit! These were recorded with the same microphones as the kick drum to allow you to find the perfect balance of tones between the entire shell set.

BFD Decatom BFD3

BFD Decatom is an expansion for BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2 that features a set of 10 tuned toms with identical 6″ heads but depths varying from 6″ to 24″. The resulting set features a pitch range that covers 1 octave and is useful for unconventional melodies, basslines, alternative tom sounds, percussive grooves, atmospheric soundtrack work and much more. The 10 included DDrum Deccabons can be adjusted to play chromatically using the tuning features in your BFD environment and can be twisted into a variety of shapes with dynamics and effects processing. BFD Decatom is recorded in similar studio conditions to the BFD Jazz & Funk and BFD Percussion expansions as well as those used for the Mapleworks kits in BFD3.
