A choir library has been on our to-do list ever since our company was in its infancy and now finally the time has come. This is not just any choir library as this project had to be approached style, being as playable and flexible as a sampled choir can be whilst sounding completely realistic. We spent a lot of time developing the engine driving Tutti Vox and we are very proud indeed of what we have achieved; a new approach and an innovative way of working with sampled choir.

Just load it into the free Kontakt Player and you can use GGD with no time limits or restrictions. We created the Matt Halpern Drum Library to scratch our own itch. Virtual drums are an integral part of our creative process, and we simply couldn’t find a drum library that had everything we needed. We needed a library that had a truly full range of velocities, with everything from fluttery ghost notes to crushing full-power hits. Since we couldn’t buy what we needed, we made our own.
Grosso is the best instrument we have produced to date. Period. With Grosso, BV is changing the paradigm for orchestral phrase-based instruments… again! Before our Minimal library, the level of control, whilst retaining the authentic sound that live recordings bring to the party, was unheard of. We have gotten so much positive feedback on Minimal that a ‘sequel’ was unavoidable. Mere sequels is not what we do though, so if you look at what Grosso brings to the table, you will see an evolved entity that is a homo-sapiens to Minimal’s homo-erectus.

Bass Machine was in essence an attempt to revisit a commonly used trick of the trade whereby the warm roundness, power and motion of the Minimoog’s bottom end was blended with the bite and clinical accuracy of FM bass. The result is a nice example of where the whole is greater than sum of its parts… In order to capture as much of the Model D’s character as possible, four patches were dialled into the instrument complete with filter envelope. Since such a process would probably have rendered rather inflexible results another four patches were captured with the filter wide open. Every white key was captured as four random round robins resulting in over 800 samples from Hideaway Studio’s beloved 1976 Minimoog No.7751.
Most should realise by now that I have a fascination for rediscovering old technologies and combining the best of them in a constant attempt to create something new and unusual. Some of you will also know that I’m a big fan of the retro computing scene and especially the demo music scene that grew up around it during the mid ‘80s and into the ‘90s. Almost all of the time my technological foraging involves trawling up some physical lump of hardware but on recently rekindling my love of ProTracker on the Amiga I got curious one day and wondered if perhaps someone had attempted to not just play back samples as in Karsten Obarski’s pioneering Ultimate Soundtracker (that came close to bringing Fairlight Series II functionality to the unwashed masses on two floppy disks in 1987!) but rather to synthesize them from scratch…
